Just bought 700W off ebay, No Camera software?

Help! Just bought an almost brand new 700W off of ebay and everything is in awesome shape. Went to take pix of my son's cub scout slot car racing last night and couldn't find the camera function on the phone.
Went home and searched both the programs folder and the pictures and videos folder but still couldn't find the camera icon? Went to verizon store and even called Palm One to no avail. Palm One did offer to fix it for $199 though .......I only paid $81 for it on ebay..
Is there a third party software for the camera? or Can I get the original software downloaded back into the phone. I tried both a soft and hard reset...no luck..

I'm out of ideas, HELP!......lol

welcome to treonauts jta944? Does it have a camera buiolt in some treos did not have a camera to start with. There should be My 750 has a camera icon in the programs folder. You should be able to check in the today page and get the camera in the show programs area of the today screen. If you have a casmera and its not showing upo back up the device and do a hard reset. See if it comes back as that should get it back to factory settings.

Sounds like the shortcut needs recreating, this is a more laborious task then it should be.

Firstly you need a decent file explorer program, I use Resco Explorer a free trial version can be downloaded from here. Once that is installed launch it and follow these steps.

Press the Menu button and go to Options, General, go to the Browser tab and make sure all the boxes are unchecked. Press the Ok button to save the changes.

Go into the My Device\Windows directory

Scroll down the list of files until you get to pimg.exe, highlight it and press the and hold the Center button

From the menu select Copy

Scroll back up the list until you see Start Menu, go into the Start
Menu
folder and then the Programs folder

Scroll down so you're not on a directory and press the Menu button, select Edit, then Paste Shortcut

You should now have a file called pimg.lnk in the list, press and hold the Center button and select Rename from the menu. Change the name to Camera.lnk.

The file should still be highlighted so use the stylus to select the icon at the bottom which looks like a hand holding a piece of paper.

Select the Shortcut tab and replace what ever is in the Target box with :MSCAMERA?shellres.dll,-8263 and press the Done button to accept the change.

Press the Ok button to close Resco Explorer

Go into Programs and you should now have a shortcut called Camera which should hopefully run the camera app

Either way will work, I generally download the .Cab file and store it on the SD card and run the installer from there. Downloading the .Exe and running the installation from the PC might be easier.

I now have the camera shortcut in the programs folder, but it only brings me to the pictures & videos screen where there are just the 2 sample pictures and no camera.
Thank you very much for trying, If you have any more ideas, I am definitely open to them.

Since this thing is Windows based, could it be a registry problem? If, so, how would I go about fixing it?

I've never seen this problem before, the camera is the only thing missing.
It has a lens in back....so it must have had a camera file at one time...lol

It sure could

A bit of Googling came up with this

Quote:
Check if you have the following registry key: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/ Rai/:MSCAMERA

Check if the value 1 as this : pimg.exe -camerakey
Resco comes with a registry editor addon, use that to check the above key and value
