For the Verizon users with no data plan and wifi, does the wifi allow the sending of mms messages?

Welcome to treonaus !

No, the mms only goes over cellular networks, and not data networks only . MMS is a hybrid version of sms . Due to it being both data and text . Verizon can and will charge you for every mms that you send from you treo as per their data rate .

If you have one of verizon's message packages (unlimited IN + 500, 1000, etc) won't the picture messaging be covered under that? You shouldn't get charged for the picture message, but the data transfer time for the picture will be deducted from your calling plan minutes if i am correct.

No, MMS within verizon counts as data .

I just got done chatting with "Jeffrey" at verizon, and he informed me that sms and mms are covered under the messaging package with no extra data fees.

Hmm , That's interesting , now if verizon can explain the extra mms charges that I got eight months ago it would be nice . BTW I had the messaging package with no data package at the time . I guess, I was wrong in regards to the charges .

It's difficult to get good info from anyone i've ever talked with at Verizon...i guess i will find out on my bill. I should've saved that conversation i had with "Jeffrey"...

True . During my mounth and a half with verizon I've gone trough 53 700wx's. suffering from the good ol hung data session . Around Treo 24 verizon thought it was a good idea to cut off my data and run the treo with out a data plan . I send out of a lot of emails and mms . Due to our company's BES acting up sometimes . I am forced to rely on my own smartphone sometimes . In the end 53 treo's later and a lone moto Q , later . I pulled the plug on the contract . Have you ever seen 9 phones just hang in a verizon store after being exchanged ?
