Are you able to use the speakerphone option more than twice?

I know that may sound like a weird question, but hear me out OK. Recently the sound on my Treo 700wx ceased to function. I can no longer hear anyone talk to me unless I turn the speakerphone option on. I can use the speakerphone on two calls, and then I can no longer use it. I have to hard reset my phone each and every time that I use the speakerphone twice. Am I doing something wrong or is the only way to solve this is to get a new phone?

Have you tried soft and hard resets? If you have, then a new phone sounds like the option. Have you recently installed any programs onto your WX?

You might be able to install some new speakers if it turns out to really be a hardware problem.

I think my problem is more software than hardware because the option to use the speakerphone disappears after using it for two calls. But if it is a hardware issue, I guess I may have to have it replaced then.

You could replace the speakers yourself if the hardware turns out to be the problem.

I'd sync your PIM data and do a hard reset. See if the issue returns without any additional software.

i have the same issue. After a reset i can enable speakerphone a couple times then i cant use it anymore.

also, the phone sometimes thinks the headphones r still plugged in and the only way to talk on the phone is through the speakerphone option.
I ended up breaking my headphone jack because of this issue. I believe alot of people r having this problem. if u put the headphones in and take them out u can usually get it to work right again but it is annoying.

I agree, it is annoying. After a while, you get the hang of how to remove the headset so the speakerph. can be enabled. There is a knack to it: pull straight out and quickly. If speaker ph. dosent work, repeat. I guess there is a solder joint weakness here. Also, if we could find a great bluetooth we wouldn't have to deal with this.

Yes, eclair is right. This is a common problem across many Palm phones. Hopefully the new Pro, with its 3.5 jack will perform better than the 2.5 jack Palm has been using. If you've been using a wired headset and then have problems with sound, this is likely the cause. Now, why you can use the speakerphone (twice) and then it stops working is beyond me. That is just downright odd. But I do like the idea of doing a hard reset and checking everything out without any third party software being restored. If it works fine, then you know its a software conflict of some type. If so, I would recommend looking at apps that directly deal with the phone app or the sounds files. Hope a good solution is found.
