8GB SDHC Card - Treo Forum

So I have just switched from my 700P to the 700WX. I have an 8GB SHDC card that has approx 7GB worth of MP3's on it. I have downloaded and run the SDHC.cab file for the 700WX and am able to access my card. Here's the strange part. When I Browse the files in File Explorer, it only shows the first 115 of my total 1937 Songs. I pop the card in the card reader on my laptop and there are indeed 1937 songs. I decided to check what the Memory looked like when the card was in the phone...see below.

3723.21 MB Total Storage Card Memory
3658.25 MB used
64.96 MB free

This was not a huge shock to me as my 700P could only "display" up to 4Gb even though all 8Gb was recognized.

I decided to tell media player to search the card for songs and it only found 115 songs...AAARRRGGGHHH!

I am able to create other folders on the card and store files there, it just doesn't see all of my MP3's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you only see 115 because those must be in the 4gb that the treo can see.

and the rest must be in the other 4gb.

If you remove one of the 115 does it still show 115 songs or only 114?

I was under the impression that all 8Gb would be recognized not just 4Gb.

Also, assuming each mp3 is ~4Mb, that would only be 460Mb (115*4) worth of songs, not 4Gb, so only seeing 4Gb worth of songs seems unlikely.

When I remove a song from the 115 and search again, it finds 114 songs and then after a second, it increases to 115. Very interesting...any other ideas?

Has anybody else used an 8GB SDHC card with 4+ gb of MP3's on WM5?

Look at the list of songs that show and then pick a song you know you have installed, but is not on the list, and have the player search for it and see if that works. 115 songs shouldn't take up anywhere close to 4 MB (if its just a 4 MB recognition problem), so I'm a little confuzzled by the whole thing.

I'm not quite sure how to search for a particular file name. I have been opening Media Player clicking Library->Storage Card then Update Library and it searches for all files and only finds 115.

OK folks, I have figured out why I was only seeing 115 files. Apparently you HAVE to "synchronize" the files onto your SD card, you can't just copy the MP3's there. Apparently I had synchronized those 115 files at some point in the past, so they were the only ones showing up. I wound up removing all files from the card and then Syncing them back onto the card...VOILA???...well, kinda :-)

I now am running into the 4Gb limitation. Windows Media only recognizes 851 songs...AAARRRGGGHHH :-(

Is the SDHC.cab file not supposed to allow me to use all 8GB?

Has anyone used an 8Gb card with over 4Gb worth of MP3's?

Would someone else be willing to try and reproduce my issue on their phone?
