![]() | Treo 700W or Treo 755? Hi gang, I am at a deciding point on whether to get the 700W or 755. I have looked, handled and checked out both units. When I walked away from the Verizon store last week, I wanted to get the 755 because of its look, feel and the fact that I already have a 650- so my programs should transfer over pretty easily. But, the more I think about it, I think the 700W would be the way to go. I work in a Windows world and I have had Pocket PC's before. I would like to hear from everyone/anyone on this. Please feel free to send me email- I'm about ready to purchase..... something! Right now, I am bent on the 700W. Rickkip |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 700WX is pretty old now. I was a little disappointed my General Manager bought one the other day. Unfortunately it's the newest WM Treo available for CDMA networks like Verizon. The 755 is highly recommended over the 700p if you want to stick with Palm OS.

![]() ![]() | Well the general consensus of most posts as to windows mobile or palm os is that its a matter of personal preference. bothe os' have their strong ponts and weaknesses. palm os is getting old in the tooth but it still viable it takes up less space on the device but it does not allow multitasking. Your can multi task with wm os but it takes up a lot of memory. I am using the 750 now and like it very much I had a 650 for a long time and liked it but got tired of the limitations of the palm os and wanted to get rid of the stubby antenna which kept breaking when it came out of the case and fell. The 700 w and wx still have the stubby antenna and I have been on cingularly att for seven + years and dont really want to switch. They are getting old and somewhat dated as well. The 755 is a newer palm device but it seems to have shortcoming for some people as well especially with the recent update. You just have to think about it and decide what fits your needs better. |

![]() | It mostly comes down to the OS. I prefer Palm OS over WinMo. It is just so much faster and stable. However, between the devices the 755p also has the nicer form factor, and the rubberized paint on the exterior is a really nice touch. Also there is no external antenna on the 755p.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Most of the points I would make have already been mentioned, particularly by Jfa. The choice is strictly one of preference. There are some things to consider. First, both operating systems are about to get a major rewrite (well, WinMo kinda already has, but it won't be until the 800 comes out that you'll see the full benefits). So that should bear into your decision making. I don't know about you, but I would hate to buy a phone only to have it be severely outdated in a year or less, regardless of which way you go. Which brings me to my second point, have you considered a Centro (even as just a temporary phone)? It has all the functionality of the 755p for far less money. Then, when the changes are made in a year or so, you can always switch to another phone without feeling like you've wasted a lot of money (unless, of course, you buy a lot of third party apps). Just my 2 cents. |

![]() | New 700WX After (much) careful thinking, I have purchased the 700WX. The 755 was my second choice. I really liked the rubberized exterior surface of the 755 and the SD card slot is on the side behind a door to prevent accidental ejections and exposure. The 755 also did away with the "pointy" external antenna. I'm always cautious that Ill be moving around at work and "knock" the darn thing off. In the end, the 700wx won out. My last Pocket PC was a Ipaq3765. And that was over 5 years ago. I had been operating from a Palm since. I see that some things have not changed in the way of icons and user interface. Right now, I am just trying to figure out "how this works"! Does anyone really use the IR port anymore? With Bluetooth, why would anyone need such a option. I really do not see myself "buzzing" over my contact card to another Palm user from a meeting. Perhaps they could have canned the IR port and put the speaker in the front? Just a thought. Anyways, thanks to all who commented. ![]() |

![]() | I have owned both the 700p and 700wx on Sprint--and now have the 755p on Sprint. I have to say, that I really enjoyed the 700wx for quite a while--I'm not normally a Windows Mobile fan, but I was very impressed what Palm did to add their own features to it to make it more like a true Treo in terms of functionality. It never reset on me, and worked well. I left the 700p after it just would reset on me all the time--can't have that. Anyway, once I got the 755p I was sold. It is stable, love the feel of it in my hand and it does the job and has the better form factor. It's much snappier than the 700wx. Plus if I were to purchase another Windows Mobile phone, it would have to be Windows Mobile 6, not 5. So the 755p is here to stay until I see what this Linux OS is all about next year... :-)

![]() | Which specific shortcomings are you referring to? I have found it to be a tremendous update and have had no problems.

![]() | I am very happy that I picked the 700wx instead of the 755. Both are great PDA's. The ONE thing I wish the 700wx had that the 755 has, is the rubberized case! These things are so small in your hand, it does not take much to drop them. And with me at work, constantly pulliing this thing in and out of its pouch, I am very careful. I know this may be another thread, but can anyone suggest a good skin for my 700wx???? I am using a Mobo carrying case and that is working out good. I just need to be able to grip/handle/type on the 700wx without dropping this $500+ jewel! Thanks to all who replied! Mahalo, rickki |
