ROM Update TREO700WX_-1.22-VZW (AGAIN) - Treo Forum

On September 18, Palm and Verizon issued an update to V1.22-VZW. Instead of naming it V1.23-VZW they decided to name it V1.22_-VZW with an "_" in front of the dash.

How stupid...!

TREO700WX-1.22-VZW
A Partial update is necessary and will take approximately 10 minutes.
TREO700WX_-1.22-VZW
(includes the underscore "_" as illustrated in the image to the right.) No update is necessary.

At least they are releasing it better than coingularly ATT which wont release officially the 750 update even though most of the rest of the world has it!

The name may be silly, but what they did, is change the radio settings/configuration for data connectivity. If you did the prior upgrade, the current upgrade only takes a few minutes (yes....literally about three minutes to update)!!!

By-the-way.......it works now. I used to get the 'modem not found' error at least 3-5 times before it would connect, and since the update, it connects the first time every time!!!!!

Really the initial update should never have been released, shoddy testing on Verizon's part

maybe I'm just being crazy but after I did this update i noticed that my phones today screen doesn't completely cover the actual screen on my phone. there's a small bit of space completely around the screen that is just black. again, maybe i just never noticed it but can anyone confirm whether its suppossed to be there or not? my phone is a 700wx. anyone elses screen the same way or is it suppossed to be filled all the way from corner to corner? please let me know.

Yes, that is completely normal, there is a 1-2 pixel 'ring' around the Today screen, I don't know why, but that is the way Palm made it. You will notice it (of course now that you have noticed it once, it will be glaring at you forever LOL) it is on all screens, from Today, to explorer to full-screen apps.

In short....nothing to worry about, and was there before the update as well!!

Thanks a bunch for the info. i was afraid the new update changed my screen. never noticed the screen like that before the update but like you mentioned, it'll be glaring at me forever now. lol thanks again.

did any one have difficulty downloading update 1.22? I have tried on 2 700 w's both froze and cannot be reset ( either hard or soft) I can't use the phone or any aspect of it

It worked like a charm for me. Both original and the subsequent one. The second one is definitely faster. About 3 minutes.
