| Junior Member ![]() | email question from an email newb ok i tried going through the search in forums but still couldnt find an answer to my problem.... sorry if its already there... anywho i have the 700w via verizon i do not have the data plan and cant afford it currently i route my college email through outlook on my laptop computer but i would (upon sync) like to move those emails onto my treo... then when i am in class or at lunch i can go through my emails. for sending emails... i would like to write a reply email but not have it sent until it syncs with the computer (because then i can have the computer send it for free.... as apposed to having it sent via my phone)... i set up the email account (according to the directions from my school) With a Windows Mobile 5.0 device, how do I configure an IMAP connection? - Knowledge Base note-i have it set at manual connection so it doesnt connect all the time... so... what do i do now? do i just sync it and it will pull the emails in? do i have to do anything wierd to satisfy my outgoing mail desires that i listed above? oh yeah... one more question... i have yet to sync the phone with the computer since i set up the email account on my phone. when i clicked "store attachments on storage card" under the storage tab of options, it did some thinking and put some weird stuff (that i cant open) on my storage card under the file (mail inbox).... my question here is... if i have no emails in my email folders (because i havent sync it to my comp AND i have not synced the mail wirelessly...) how are there any attachments in there? could they be from text messages??? please help! sincerely, Trev |

![]() | Yes. Just sync up your treo to your computer and it will download the emails onto it. On your desktop activesync, there are a few settings you can change, like whether you want just the emails from the last week or all of them, adding attachments to the phone or sd card, etc. You can also set which email subgroups you want to have sync's; like Inbox and Work or whatever subgroups you choose. Even having your calendar and tasks sync'd is life changingly necessary. And whatever you scribe on your phone will sit in its Outbox until your next sync and then it emails with outlook automatically. I would highly recomment that you sync up your phone so that you can get everything set up and have backups for your important info. I've lost all of my contacts once before, and it really sucks trying to find all of the info again. If you have everything on your phone and PC, then you always have a backup if either fail you. Let us know if you have any problems setting up; but don't expect any. It's pretty easy and other than a few counterintuitve settings, you'll be up and running in no time.

![]() | ... oh, and I don't know how you would have attachments on your card before your email was sync'd. Likely it is not from your emails at all. But try syncing first and then we can figure out what those are later...

| Junior Member ![]() | ok well a little update here... first lemme say that i think i mis-spoke when i was talking about syncin' my treo.... i usualy sync my treo daily and have had no problems with it... i had just no synced it since i put the email stuff on my treo.... well at any rate, i was about to sync my treo (to try to pull emails on to it) but right before i connected it i wrote two emails on my treo (to test the outgoin mail on my treo) i wrote the first one on the school email account that i set up with the above instructions... for the second email, i noticed that besides my iumail account, there is an account called "outlook email" so i wrote one on there too... in both cases they were placed in the "outgoing" folder... when i synce my treo, everything i usually sync connected just fine (contacts and such) but for email, it did not move my emails onto my treo. in regards to the outgoing email, after i connected with my computer, outlook sent the message from the outbox in "outlook mail" but did nothing with my outbox from the "iumail" that i setup on my treo.... so now what... do i just delete the iumail from my treo and simply use "outlook email" for my emails? how do i pull emails onto my treo?? on my outlook desktop i feel as though if i could pull my "iumail" account (which works great on my desktop) into my regular "inbox" folder that it would transfer to my treo... is there an automatic way to do this? ps i can email/post pics if no one understands this -thanks, Trev |
