Activesync Problems - Treo Forum

Hello all:
I've had my Treo for 4 months now and have yet to be able to get it to sync with my laptop. I've un-installed and re-installed ActiveSync several times, I've tried both versions of AciveSync(4.2 & 4.5) and am at my wits end.

ActiveSync will connect and see the Treo from my Laptop, I can explore the phone from ActiveSync,Transfer files and programs manually, but still can not get it to sync the folders I want (Tasks, contacts and calendar).
The following is what I'm working with:

The Hardware:
Treo 700WX
Sony Vaio

The Software:
Windows XP Professional
Windows Mobile 5.0
Outlook 2003
Activesync 4.2

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what device did you have before you got the 700 wx? Did you follow the instructions on migrating from other devices to the 700wx. Do you have any third party software installed.

Active sync can be a pain my first two pocket pcs casio e-200 and HP Journada 567 and active sync hated each other I spent 2 to 3 days on hold and talkking with microsoft and hp and Casio to get it (AS)installed properly and working. Thats the major reason I waited untiol February to take the 750 plunge. I have ben happy with how easy it was to migrate and it worked right the first time right out of the box. Upgraded to 4.5 when the DST patches came out that was a breeze also.

This is my first "smart" phone. I've been carrying my dayplanner around for years before taking the plunge back in April.
There is no 3rd party software on my phone, just what came on it from Palm.
I followed the few instructions that were given while setting up ActiveSync, I've been all over the manual looking for solutions, I've tried switching the USB type... All to no aval.
Thanks for replying and maybe there is something out there I'm missing.

okay I am looking at my 750's troubleshooting active sync pages and you can sync somethings but not your basic contacts calendar and tasks and you have uninstalled and reinstalled the active sync software including the basic software from the installation disk several times. Have you done any soft or hard resets to see if that cleared up the problem? Have you opened up active sync software on your desktop/laptop to check and see if the synchronization settings are set up to synchronize those categories which are not being synched? If not do so. It says that media file synchronization will fail if you installed the synchronization software before you installed Media Player 10 software. It talks about off line synchronization and that may not be an issue but check to make sure that your folders not being synched are not set up off line only somehow. Hope this helps get back with us.

I've unistalled and reinstalled activesync 4.2 and 4.5 at least 3 times, did a soft reset of the phone both off the USB cord and on the USB cord, I've rebooted the Laptop, several times. I've left the progam and the phone set connected for 2-3 hours one day and still nothing. I've went in and deleted the profile from my phone and started from scratch. Even set what to sync at just my calendar, And still NOTHING....

Does the Activesync window pop up when you connect your Treo?

Do you get any kind of error message?

I dont know you try a third party sync program or get a third party PIm app like pocket informant or agendu that has nthe sync options. But something wird is going on. I had some similar problems with AS in the pocket pc days of my Casio E-200 and HP Journada 567.
