Blackberry Connect on a 700w or 700wx

All,

I am wondering if the cab files and the Blackberry connect tools for the Treo 750v will work on the Treo 700w or 700wx. I am a Cingular customer so I can't test this software. HTC has made the BBC software compatiable in the past with other us units i.e., the T-Mobile Vario works with the USA MDA and the 8125. If this does work this will be a valuable tool for us folks chained to a corp blackberry server for push email. The software can be found here:

http://euro.palm.com/de/de/products/...ect/getit.html

Yes it is is in German but it downloads and works in english. You need the file "Für BlackBerry Internet Service™ und BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ ("desktop" installer - 16.5MB) herunterladen." this has the exes for the device and desktop software.

Also, "BlackBerry Connect Hanbuch (in englischer Sprache) herunterladen." is the instruction PDF in english.

If you have never done this before... you need to double click the exe file BBCTreo750v...this loads the software to your phone. You let it initialize and let it activesync again. You than double click Blackberry desktop software load it on your system. This operates like the Blackberry destop software and allows you to add signture and so on. It is in this destop software where you will find a connect button. Clicking this button pushes your companies Blackberry requirments to the device.

Notes: You must be running Blackberry Server 4.1 or better and you must have an active blackberry account. Please let me know if you are able to get this working. You need to call your carrier and tell them to convert you to a Blackberry data plan. They may argue at first but evetnually they will do it. In other forums I have read that Verizon does not particion it's blackberry packets diffrently so it may work off the bat for Verizon customers...I don't know for sure.

Thanks,
MJH

Is there a version for CDMA?

I want to go from my Treo 650 CDMA to the Treo 700wx, I need to know if there is a version of Blackberry Connect that will work for a CDMA provider (Sprint).

Blackberry Connect on a 700w with Verizon

mjh32,

I have installed Balckberry Connect on my 700w with Verizon. So far, it does not appear to be working. I have read elsewhere what you have stated; your service plan must be setup as a Blackberry account. I called Verizon and asked for just that. They said it is not a function of my calling plan, but a function of the hardware. They said both Blackberrys and Treos have the same calling plans. However, I believe it is the case with other providers, like Cingular, that changing the account to a Blackberry account is the secret.

They also said that they are working on a "patch" that will allow Blackberry Connect to work on the Treo 700w, but I am skeptical of that statement. It kind of sounds like, “That is a problem, and we are working on it.”

For those who may find this post and want to know more details. I installed the BB Connect for the Treo 750v that I downloaded from the link in the post from mjh32 above. I followed the instructions and it does appear to install and run. However, the service will not continue to run because it says it is “Not connected”. Since the service will not run, I can not complete the activation with my company’s BES server. I am reasonably confident that if I can get over this not-connected hurdle I am home free. I have seen a post in another forum where someone said he did get this same configuration to work (700w with Verizon), but he does not appear to be monitoring that thread any longer to provide any assistance.

My only other theory, is that my company is not using BES Version 4.1. Anyone know who to find that out short of calling someone in IT?

From what I see, it appears that it is possible to get Blackberry Connect working with Cingular, but I am not finding many that have got it to work with Verizon. If there is anyone out there who has got Blackberry Connect to work with a 700w and Verizon, do tell….
