| Junior Member ![]() | 700w memory question ok i am considering buying a treo and have looked at tons of pages on this site (btw i have found this site VERY helpful with most of my questions)... however i have a question regarding the 700w for verizon.... i have heard on a couple threads that the phone becomes slow sometimes, especially when there is a lot of stuff on the phone.... with that said i would like to know if my example phone would slow up... y/n, a lot/a little, etc "my example phone" would maybe have a few (1-5) pics a bunch of contacts - approx 400-700 maybe more some emails (who knows... 10-100 at any given time) maybe more would this gum up my phone? if the answer to the slow question is "NO".... then how many emails/contacts could i throw on it before it would start getting slow? would it matter how much info i have on each contact? would it matter if i have a bunch of calender and tasks items? if the answer to the slow question is "yes, a little, or a lot"..... well then what can i do (if anything) to remedy this situation.... (aside from buying the 700wx) memory cards? - if yes could i access all my information as if the card was not there or would i have to dig into the card... as an example lets say a contact "bill" was only on the memory card (mind you i have no experience with memory cards so i might be miss-interrpreting their use)... ok but lets say "bill" is only on the memory card... when i type "BILL" into the search bar would his name come up with all the other bills in the phone? or in order to dial "bill" would i have to dig into the memory card? i would greatly appreciate anyone who could help answer these questions sincerely, Treo Noob |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Windows Mobile, which the 700w runs, is a multitasking OS so when close applications they aren't really closed but just hidden from view. The more applications open at the same time the slower the Treo will be to respond, bit like a desktop PC. Obviously having very little memory, as is the case with the 700w, the problem is compounded. The solution is either to go into Task Manager and end each application or use a third party utility, like Magic Button, to end them when you select close.

| Junior Member ![]() | so lemme see if i understand this correctly.... in my "example phone" it really doesnt matter too much how many contacts / emails i have inside the phone... so much as it matter more on how many aps i am running at one time... ok so then another question... in my "example phone" if i am using only outlook (without wireless sync or data package)...and that is really the only program running, then it should go just fine right? (i mean i am not really using anything on the phone except outlook) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I strongly recommend you skip the 700w, and get the 700wx or the 750 depending on your carrier, if you want Windows Mobile.

![]() ![]() ![]() | If I am not mistaken, 700wx has more memory and is a slight upgrade to the w. I am not to savvy on the wx, but from what I can remember...... |
