hello everybody, Email problem here!!! - Treo Forum

Hey everybody. I'm new here and I dont anything about anything.

So please treat me like that.
I just got this little toy ( 700wx - sprint) and I like it very much.
I do have a little problem with my email. I have yahoo.com and cox.net and on none of them I can send any email. I can recieve but I cant send.
Why?? any when I try to attach pic it gives me some kind of error message.

Any kind of help would be great.

With Yahoo! you have to be a Mail Plus user. This gives you access to POP forwarding. If you're already a Mail Plus user, then make sure your outgoing is set to smtp.yahoo.com. The same should go for Cox (stmp.cox.com), except for the Mail Plus thing.

It shows yahoo Imap, could that be a problem. I did change to smtp.yahoo.com and still the same thing

Yahoo! doesn't support IMAP. The only way Yahoo! will work is if you have the Mail Plus account ($20 a year) and set your Treo mail account to smtp.yahoo.com (the incoming should be pop.yahoo.com).

I should mention that yahoo is going to have an add on program for Windows Mobile Treos called yahoo! go, that allows for email access with out the additional fee.The Yahoo Go site is here

There are basically 3 email protocols you should be aware of:
POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3)
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)
SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)

POP3 and IMAP are message delivery protocols, so when a message gets sent to your yahoo account for example, POP3 is responsible for delivering it to your mail application. SMTP is the most common message sending protocol, so when you send a message from your email client, it is responsible.
