Windows Mail? Vista?

I'm new here, so "Hi"! Looking to purchase the 700wx, and one aspect that I have been researching but cannot find an answer to:

Am I able to hook up my Windows Mail to the Outlook on the phone? My laptop is for my full-time job, and I use Office 2007. However, for my independent business, I use Windows Mail to keep it separate. Is this possible?

A side note: I have found on the web, that this phone should work with Vista. Does anyone have any known compatability issues or have a link with more useful info?

Thanks a lot for any input!

Missy

Currently there is no way to sync to Vista's built in Mail app

Looks like it's up to third party developers to come up with a solution as usual

yeah...just make sure you have the 32-bit processor before you install the Palm desktop software. Coz' it would not install on a 64-bit processor. I don't know if anyone here was able to resolve this issue.

You won't be using the palm desktop because you're on a Windows Mobile Treo. But snake eye is right on the 32 bit version of Vista. Talk about compatibility problems with the 64 bit version...

Are you 100% sure about this? Even if you are using a 64 bit processor, you aren't necessarily running the 64 bit version of Vista.

The main problem is, Microsoft requires Digitally Signed Drivers in the 64 bit version, and many companies don't want to pay for the Driver Signing.

I believe so... I cannot run ACT! on my computer because they are not comaptable with the 64-bit version yet. Computer info:

Windows edition
Windows Vista Ultimate

System
Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: HP Pavilion dv9000
Rating: 4.6 Windows Experience Index
Processor: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz
Memory (RAM): 2046 MB
System type: 64-bit Operating System

If I remember correctly Ultimate comes with both the 32 and 64 bit versions on the disc. So you may be able to reformat and install the 32 bit version.

I'd contact HP and verify that the disc they gave you includes both before giving it a shot though. But that's entirely up to you, if ACT is the only program that's giving you problems, it might be easier to wait until they make it compatible with the 64 bit version of Vista.

You may also want to try out Thunderbird from Mozilla although I'm not sure it's compatible with the 64 bit version of Vista. It is, in my opinion, much superior to Windows Mail aka Outlook Express.

Hey thanks - I am not at all partial to using Windows Mail, I will take a look at Thunderbird.

I did find something called Windows Mobile Device Center - they have a download for 64-bit, but does this not apply to the Treo700w?

Windows Mobile Device Center is basically Active Sync, but for Vista.

What mail service do you use for your independent business?

I'm not sure what you'll need to use to sync mail from either Thunderbird or Windows Mail to the Treo. You can set up multiple mail accounts independently on the Treo though, and download the mail via your data connection through your cell carrier.
