Unlock Verizon 700w to work with Cricket - Treo Forum

Hi,

I'm brand new to the forum, and also this is my first Treo even though I have lusted after one since they came out!

I just bought a Verizon 700w on eBay and need to know if anyone knows if I will have a problem putting the SIM chip from my Cricket phone into the 700w. Doest the phone need to be unlocked? If so, what procedure do I use to accomplish that.

I've been using Palm since the very first one came out, and I'm eager to start using the Treo, finally!

I'm sorry to say that Verizon does not use SIM cards, and I don't think you will be able to use it on another carrier plan (I could be wrong on that), but I know for sure you won't be able to use your SIM card.

As syrguy1969 has mentioned you've got a CDMA phone, these don't require a SIM card, SIM cards are only used in GSM phones. There isn't a GSM version of the 700P. Your choices are either to change carriers to Verizon or Spint, who both run CDMA networks, or sell the 700P and get a GSM Treo such as the 650, 680 or 750.
