Camera no longer functions on 700wx

hi all,
for some reason the camera, both still pics and video, has stopped working on my treo 700wx...I would go to my Pictures & Videos in my start menu and that brings me to my pictures folder where the camera icon resides...then normally I would click on the camera icon and I'm able to snap a pic or take video....since a couple days ago I have not been able to do this, all that happens when I click the camera now is just quickly flickers and doesn't do anything, it won't execute the camera ..it just sits there...the only thing I have done was use some program on here that does a clean up of temp files and registry clean up..can't remember te name of the program at the moment..I'm starting to wonder if I had erased something in the registry that directly affected the camera's operation

please help me get my camera back...not sure if there is a driver somewhere that I can download...I've checked this site and palm's site ..even did a google search..nothing came up...I've also done a soft reboot...still same result..

thank you for your help

My first suggestion (since you did a soft reset) is to do a hard reset. I know it is a pain, but it will restore everything to 'out of the box' condition. If that does not work, then I would call support and look into a replacement, or an insurance claim. Let me know if the reset works....I have a feeling it will.

hey syrguy,

The only fear i have about a hard reset is my contacts info..I don't care about the programs those can be reinstalled ..but will a hard reset wipe out my contacts?...and if so how can i back them up to the PC so that I can just sync them back into the Treo 700wx? ..step by step instructions please ..i'm still learning this thing lol

Thanks

Do you use activsync on your PC? If you do, then your contacts are safe. If not, it would be a GREAT time to start...download activsync from the enclosed CD, and run it....you will be asked what things you want to sync....Make sure your contacts are checked to sync (you will see it in the menu). After you see the sync is complete, your contacts will be safe in Outlook on your PC and will re-sync with your Treo after you do a hard reset.

I hope I didn't confuse you too much, I sometimes have a rough time symplifying things as completely as possible....good luck!!

liveddica73,

All of your information will be erased. Before you hard reset, hotsync and backup your phone. Then, do the hard reset. Next, when your phone powers backup and before you hotsync, make sure your settings are correct. By settings, I mean that the CPU will override the handheld. With that setting the contacts will be placed back into your phone from your PC.

There should be a couple disks that came with the Treo...activsync should be on one, I believe outlook is as well, and it is worth installing for instances like this, plus it is easier to handle typing in many contacts at once, or a lot of edits (compared to using the stylus for all of that typing).

P.S. Don't worry about the questions, I have asked my share, and everybody here is all about helping!!
