Text Messaging

Hey all,

Just a quick question for ya....I was wondering if there is a visual indicator on my Treo 700wx that tells me when the recipients of my text ACTUALLY reads my text...NOT when it was delivered...there is already a green check that tells me that it was delivered, but I need something that tells me the approximate time that the person opened it up ...Basically to keep tabs on people and catching them in lies of when they say that they received the text...know what i mean lol

I haven't known of any text read receipts possible to go from one provider to another, but you may find it on the subcribers website. I used to be with Verizon Wireless and if you send text to a Verizon phone using their website (http://www.vtext.com), you can see a (I think) receipt date/time stamp.

No not other providers...just Verizon to Verizon....i thought the green check used to show when the person actually read it ...but i found out the past few day that it only indicates when the message was delivered which does me no good

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Text messages are open on their phone as soon as you send it (or whatever lag time it takes), but really, there is nothing to confirm the recipient has read it. It's not like Outlook where you can request the 'read receipt' with the message. I assume the reason that you can't is because the other person would have to pay for the text fees to send back a read receipt to your phone and that is negative billing.

i guess the negative billing makes sense, but there are cell phones that dont automatically open texts the second they get it shogun...it just says "1 text message" on the face untill they actually open the flip or press "view"
