![]() | Treo 700W problem with speed dial Hello All, I need to program a speed dial to call my office number including the extension and my office voice mail numbers. I also need to program a number of speed dials for my office colleagues into my Treo 700W - the problem is that we all share the same main number but the extensions are different. I know that I have to go into advanced features and program the extensions for each person seperately. I did that and saved the contact. But when I go to dial using the speed dial, they all default to the first one I did - so it does not actually call the person that I want, but rather goes to the first person that I programmed with the speed dial (which is my extension) Any clue as to what's going on. Thanks! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Do you have the Dial extra digits automatically check box ticked? Have you tried putting a , before the extension?

![]() | Not sure what the codes were, but I seem to recall that you could enter the number for something and use # (or some other character; maybe *) to pause the dialing. So basically you would have the number in speed dial like "555-555-5555 # 221" and it would dial the number, pause, and then dial the extension afterwards. I used to do it with my old Startac for something or other back in the early post-brick era. I'd try and look that up on the interweb and see if that works.

![]() | ok I will try to see if that works. The thing is I followed the instructions on how to enter the number and then entered the extra digits eg ,,23484 and made sure that the "dial extra digits automatically" was ticked. |

![]() | there is another way to do what you want. Go into your phone settings, and go to the dialing tab, then go to abbreviated dialing. if you all have 3 digits extensions, choose the 3 digit extention option, and enter the main number to dial before each extension including the necessary number of pauses added to the end of the main number to get into your prompts in your pbx system. then program you speed dials strictly to the extension you need for each person... ie: to reach tom jones, you would normally dial (123) 456-7890 ext. 111, hitting "2" to enter an extension number first. program the abbreviated dialing to dial "(123) 456-7890,,,,2" for 3 digit numbers, then program tom jones' speed dial to "111". when you hit speed dial for tom jones, it will automatically insert the main number, pause for 1 to 2 seconds for each "," and then dial "2" and then finally dial "111" to reach tom's extension. that's how i had to do it for our PBX system for about 1,400 people who all have treos. It took awhile to get them used to that, but it works great, because they use the same extension dial from the pbx as they do from the treo now. makes it simple and easy for them to remember extensions. hope this helps you out.
