Question 1st Post / Trouble with Voicemail Speeddial - number keeps changing back

Hey all, I am new to the forum. I just picked up a Verizon Treo 700W. I have spent some time browsing the forum over the past month or so just to get a good idea of what i was getting myself into with this device. So far I am pretty happy with it.

I am having one prob (and i did search first!):

When the TREO arrived the voicemail speed dial was preprogrammed to a weird number: (000) 000-82** (i replaced the 2 numbers with *'s as I am not sure if this is some sensitive business number associated with the account)

I opened speed dial options and changed the number associated with that speed dial to my own TREO number. This worked for a while but then at some point reset back to the weird (000) 000-82** number.

Any one know how to remedy this? I am changing the number in the wrong location - maybe i should be in the settings area?

Thanks all!

SK

I know this may seem like an obvious question here, but did you have to do any sort of hard reset or any app that used your contact list? I changed mine as soon as I got it as well, and it seems to have stuck (you think a Verizon phone would have their voicemail # on it already huh?) The only thing I found frustrating with the voicemail on a 700w is that the VCR-type function buttons on the screen do not respond to screen touches, which looks like the idea, but I deal and use the D pat which works as well!!

Having similar issue with voicemail and voicemail speed dial.

When I *228 or *22899 (was told by Verizon - this is number you want to use if you have a digital phone). = resets -- but voicemail speed dial goes to same wierd (000) 000 - 1234. I've reprogramed speed dial voicemail to work -- but when I try to access voicemail by tapping on icon in top bar -- it tries to access voicemail by same (000) 000-1234.

New to Treo -- thanks for help in advance.

Found solution -- thought I'd post in case someone else has same issue with new phone.

Turns out that before my old phone # was re-ported... it was first set-up with temp phone #... that was (000) 000-xxxx issue. Although I could change voicemail speed dial to my correct phone #... the phone still was lnked to (000) 000-xxxx... I had to do a hard reset -- hold red end button while depressing reset button (under cover rear battery) and problem resolved... phone now updated to correct phone #/etc (after *22899).

NOOO-B ... but by D pat do you mean dial pad? like "7" to delete?

I just figured out that screen touches don't work but can use the 5-way navigation button to move around on the VCR function buttons.

Sorry!!

Yeah, bye "D" pad I meant the 5-way navigation controll. Some the the forums and threads I have been involved in refer to it as a D pad. I guess I just fell into the habit. I hope I didn't confuse anybody. It took me a while to figure that one out. You would be suprised how many short-cuts there are on the keypads!!!
