More 700wx dissappointments

There are some features that I love about the phone, but in comparison to the features I hate, it is losing the battle. The sad thing about the phone is that it isn't the phone at all, but rather just some lazy developers. The phone just wasn't thought out well. Anyway, if anyone has any insight on when these features might be fixed, let me know and I will hold on to some hope that this nightmare will end.

1) Call Waiting...it doesn't work like a normal phone, it is to the point where I am afraid to answer incoming calls because I might not be able to get back to the person who I am currently on the phone with. Add GoodLink to the phone and you have absolutely no shot. When you hit the "answer" key, it answers the call, but flashes the Missed Call dialogue box and removes the ability to use the Swap key. Fire the beta testers!
2) The Up/Down pad within Pocket Outlook. I can't believe that you can't scroll up one line inside of both these applications. I could deal with it if it was just for reading an email, however I can't edit an email effectively without having to use the touchscreen.
3) Notification options are beyond horrible. Why isn't profiles a default item? Every other phone in the world allows you to setup profiles. When GoodLink is installed, you can't use the silent button on top of the phone to force the notifications to vibrate.
4) Battery life...likely the worst I have seen. I average 30 emails or so per day and I can't make it past 5 o'clock without seeing the 10% warning message. With GoodLink I was able to reduce the battery usage just a bit...but that application has it's own issues.
5) GoodLink specific issues: Can't send attachments, vibrate must be checked in order to vibrate which renders the silent button on top of the phone useless (I know I already covered this), can no longer select alternate phone numbers when using the send key to see the last few numbers dialed.
6) Call Log...I thought I was not doing something right when I realized you couldn't add a contact from the call log when the number was unknown. So I either have to deal with the annoying "Do you wish to add this call" each time and unknown call comes in, or just remember it and add it to the specific or new contact.
7) Vibrate/Ring is low I miss more calls unintentionally.
8) Can't flash the LED with red when I get a message.
9) Call quality is poor compared to a normal phone (or even a blackberry).
10) I have a normal alarm each morning, and each morning I have to dismiss it 2 or 3 times, no idea why.

If I think of more I will add to my post. This phone is just a terribly immature device. I have checked on other Windows Mobile 5 based phones (full pocket pc, not smartphone) and most of these features are built in. My recommendation to anyone looking for a new WM5 based phone to look the other way of the Treo 700 wx. I was so excited to get it, now I can't get rid of it fast enough.

Any software upgrades on the horizon?

Jamie

Which features are you referring to?

I couldn't disagree more with you. I have found none of these issues to be either a detractor or even issues at all. My 700wx is an excellent device and is my "final" solution, after having used several blackberrys and the 700p.

The call waiting features are more normalized in other phones, the LED is able to be flashed, the Up/Down keypad doesn't do a page at a time, you can add contacts from the call log, battery life is great in other WM5 phones (HTC for example).

Impaler, do you disagree with my points where I saw poor functionality? If you do, please tell me what point you don't experience on your Treo! If you like your Treo for other reasons besides being a phone and email device, then we are comparing different functionalities. If you think I am misleading, then provide counterpoints to my "frustrations", maybe a work around or two that doesn't include purchasing and configuring new software.

I have also expreienced a problem with the call waiting feature. If I switch to the new caller, I do not see a "swap" message to go back to the first caller.
I also have another question re: closing apps. or being online and then leaving for a call ; are you automaticall taken off line? There is a free program called
Magic Button. It claims to havean OFF button that will shut down all apps, or shut down all but the one you may be working with. Have you heard of this, and should I download it , or are there any quirks with the program that I should know? Thanks

I can go back and forth between 2 callers with call waiting, but what has be puzzled is the following scenario:

I call Person A (from my 700wx) and we talk on the phone.
Person B calls me and I swap calls to answer the line.
My conversation with Person B is very short and they hang up on their end.
At this point, I swap back to Person A (waiting patiently for me to return) to resume our conversation.

Why is the meter on the Person B call timer still running?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Sometimes when the other person hangs up the call isn't terminated, could that be happening?

I had an instance one day where I was talking to a buddy. Our conversation was just about over & he got another call, so he said bye & dropped off. I never hit the "End Call" button on my BT headset. Well, about 5 mins later in my earpiece he says "Hello". I was on hold on his other line that whole time. When he hung up on his call, my call rang back thru.

Same Problem with 700p

I have the same problem with my 700p.

WHY don't they have a hang up button for the call you're on, vs. only having a "Hang up All" button? That's just ridiculous!

I only have a few problems with the phone:

1) Can't use a 8gb SD card like you can with a 700p

2) Up/Down scrolling when writing emails, like the first poster said, you can't edit emails without using the toush screen becausethe scrolling is wacky and makes you lose your place.

3) Phone seems to lag a lot sometimes for unknown reasons, not sure if the other phones do this as well.

4) A lot of internet sites are non-functional or don't load all the way due to whatever reasons, maybe due to lack of java support or something.

What did you find wrong with the 700p, I was planning on finding a way to switch to that or a 755p?
