Sprint 700wx USB/Bluetooth DUN on Mac - Treo Forum

I recently got a 700WX on Sprint with the Unlimited Power Vision data plan.

So far, in terms of tethering I have had limited success and I wanted some tips / information.

Here is what I have tried:

Under Windows XP

USB tether via PDANet - Works
USB tether via USB Modem - Works

I have not tried any bluetooth connectivity in Windows.

Under Mac OS X

USB tether via PDANet - Not Supported
USB tether via USB Modem - Supported / Can't Get it to work

Here has been my main focus:

Bluetooth tether via PDANet - Works / Buggy

I had "limited" success with this, usually the connection would die within 15 minutes and the phone would be totally frozen, then I would have to re-activate the trial on my PC because it would tell me my bluetooth trial expired. I was unhappy with the results.

Bluetooth tether via USB Modem - Works / Less Buggy

I am not sure what is the deal here, sometiems it will work for 3 hours flawlessly, but lately, it froze the phone once, just like PDANet, and after I reset the phone and rebooted my mac, It kept giving me a modem error message, so Im not sure whats up. I might try to reinstall the software.

My main question here is:

Is it possible to use the USB Modem software to actually connect to the Mac over USB, as advertized? I am not going to purchase either pieces of software if they are going to be as buggy as they have been during the trials.

My primary desire is to tether my phone to my Macbook Pro in some reliable fashion.

Do you guys have any other tips/tricks/information which might give me a little more success? I was really pleased with USB Modem until it started giving me issues and intermittent connectivity problems, I want a piece of software I can rely on.

Is there any way to do this without a 3rd party app? When you call sprint and purchase the PAM plan, what do they give you software wise?

I have the same issue. Did you resolve the problem? Is there an update for the Treowx that helps? TIA for any info you learned and can share.

havent tried pdanet yet but USBmodem tethered via USB works great. Via bluetooth I have the same problems.

tried pdanet and still same problem with bluetooth. it will freeze up the treo and lose connection.

i don't think bluetooth dun works with mac.
