Treo 700w shuts down - Treo Forum

Hi All,
New to the board. I have a Treo 700w with Verizon service. I find that the whole system, fairly frequently, just shuts down and I have to do a soft boot to get it back up. So I don't hear it ring or even get notified if I have a message. This is getting very frustrating as my mother is going through some health issues and I really need to be online full time. It will cut itself off and I don't even realize it has for hours sometimes. And this happens at various levels of battery charge. I have had this happen with a full charge. Any ideas?
Is there something wrong with my treo? Am I doing something wrong?

Do you have any third party software on it?

Has it always been like this or is it a recent thing?

Sound like a defected device you may have to take it back to them .i have the same problem and the is sending me a new phone

I find that mine does the shut down as well. is there any solution for this?

Do you guys have a program closing app like magicbutton? Windows mobile does not close its programs, just leaves them running in the background. Magicbutton works great, and is free, just do a search in here, or Handango.com you will find it.

I had the same issue with my 700w and finally called Verizon to see what I could do with it (outside of chucking it out the window on the freeway). They asked a few questions about the 3rd party software (only TomTom) and then sent me a new 700wx. I've only had it three days, but so far so good. I would have rebooted my 700w two or three times already.

You're right about not closing the programs, but if you hold the 'OK' button, it will open a menu with everything that's running so you can manually quit them.

You sent back a 700w once and got a 700wx back? You must have gotten VERY lucky!!! They only swap out the same models as a rule!! I have been through one already, and they made a point of telling me that!!! You got very lucky, congrats!!!
