ActiveSync starting on its own

On my Treo, when I open the "task manager" Activesync is always running in the background, even if I close it by choosing "stop." Then a few minutes later, it will be running in the background again, even without opening it or anything. Is there a way to choose when activesync syncs? i.e. manually. The "Schedule" option is not available (greyed out). I am using the 4.5 Beta version of ActiveSync, as the 4.2 would not work at all. Also, when my phone is in the cradle, it syncs every 5 minutes or so without any input from me. It is annoying because it will do it at night, and the sound will wake me up.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I just turned off the sound notification for ActiveSync, so the waking me up at night should not be a problem, but still, I don't think syncing every 5 minutes is normal. Thanks.

So your saying Activesync is running on your Treo even when it's not in it's cradle? Have you got it to sync email over the wire to an Exchange server or setup to use Bluetooth for Activesync?

Yes, it is running in the background, starting on its own. If I go to the Running Program List and stop all programs, five minutes later, when I go back ActiveSync is running again, even if I have not even touched the phone in the meantime.

I checked and it is only set up to connect via USB "when cradled", so...I don't think it is trying to connect using bluetooth or infrared. I don't know how to check if it is trying to sync e-mail over the wire to an Exchange server

I've noticed the same thing with my 700w. . . I have an "auto-close" program so there's almost never anything running in the background, but will frequently check my memory status .... I've noticed several times that ActiveSync is running when I haven't done a sync in a while. (It's not set to auto connect, I don't do a wireless sync and it's always closed out fully when I finish my sync.)

bizarre.

Yes, I've noticed the same occurrence on my 700w. No idea why this is happening.

I went to this site, did what it says, and, sure enough, I can turn it off now and it stays off until I do the next sync.

Thanks

That "fix" isn't really a fix at all if you are using push email, since you basically have to disable push to make it work. Any other ideas? =\

If you mean Exchange EAS then that uses Active Sync so will run in the background all the time.
