Scan Disk 4GB SD card does not work

Hello everyone,

I just purchase a Treo 700WX with Sprint Service and one of the many accessories I have purchased is a 4GB Scan Disk Memory Card.

My phone does not recognize the card when I put it in but it does recognizee my 1GB and 2GB cards.

When I contacted Scan Disk they said the Treo 700WX would not support more than 2GB of memory.

Is their anything I can do?

Does my wife get a new SD card for her Camera (With 4GB she will never have do down load LOL)

Thanks

Tom

We sell Dane-Elec 4GB Secure Digital Card for Treo 700p, 700w|wx a the Treonauts shop,so a 4gb sd card should work in your Treo.

Sometimes the switch on the side needs moving to stop it being a read only card. Or it could be a problem with the card.

yeah, as you can see on this blog post, the wx can indeed accept a 4 gb sd card. that scan disk rep was feeding you rubbish, it's got to be a problem with the card.

So this means a 4gb SD can also be used for the 700w right?

Kimmy,

The swicth on the side of the SD card does not make a difference.

Does the card need to be reformatted?

What is Fat 16 and Fat 32?

fat stands for file allocation table which is basically a way of storing information on your card. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the 700 series is fat32, which is why you can use 4 gb cards with them. the 650 is fat16. try to format the card in your treo and if that doesn't work, try to format in your pc.

Yep 700P used FAT32, the 650 uses FAT16 and has a 2Gb limit.

To confuse matters FAT16 has a max volume size of 4Gb on Windows NT/2000/XP but only 2Gb on DOS/Win9x

Hi trailertaskforce,

I bought my treo 700wx, and then I bought the Dane-Elec 4GB (in ebay, but it is the same one), and I haven't been able to use it.

First, I just put it in my treo. It didn't recognize.
Second, I put it in my external card reader, it didin't recognize.
Third, I put it in my Kodak picture cam, and it didn't recognize.

Then, I bought a special SDHC reader. The card works.
I format in fat16, puting this command:

format i: /fs:FAT /a:16K
(it is in the comments, on the page that I just linked earlier).
The card gets formatted, but my treo still doesn't recognize it.
When I see the properties in my windows XP, it still says FAT32, although I formatted it.

I don't know what else can I do in order to use it in my treo (700wx). If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

How did you make the card work, trailertaskforce?
