Using 700p(sprint) for wireless internet

Hey All,

I have been using my Treo 700p (sprint) phone for wireless internet via bluetooth on my MacBook Pro (intel) OSX 10.4.7. It does work but it will drop the connection literally every 5 minutes. Once it drops sometimes it will take a few tries to get it to re-connect. It is making my wireless internet experience barely worth the frustration.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?

you need to do a ping. open utilities in the applications folder and start network utility. click on the ping tab and ping google. this will keep your connection alive.

Yeah ya know I used to get similar issues. I connect via bluetooth to my treo 700P. One issue i've noticed is that in order for me to get a solid connection, i need to do a fresh reboot on both the phone and the macbook. Then I get a good connection. It usually will stay up now for at least an hour. Then it'll die and i'll need to re-connect. I know the idea of "breaking it in" is rather ridiculous, but i can tell you i had problems similar to yours early on, and I don't anymore... although this is quite a quirky thing.

well for sprint customers I dont know but for verizon I use PDANet and it works awesome. I never lose connection.... so if your a verizon customer this is the way to go and for you sprint customers it might work or it might not but the customer service is awesome and they address all problems in regular updates...
