Upgrading from 650p to 700p

Got a 650 from a friend a couple of weeks ago. Loved it, but as I posted in the 650 forum, it was hanging sms messages and verizon said it was the phone. So I just bought a 700p on ebay and I hope this one does not do the same.

So here is my question. I am using the palm software for syncing and it works great. When I get the new 700p what do i need to do to convert all over to it. Do I just install the software that comes with it and somehow import all the data from the old software, then do a sync on the new one? Should I do a hard reset on the new one before I even start? I am a newbie and appriciate any and all help.

THANK U IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!

If its a brand new 700p there is no need to do a hard reset. You can sync things like your PIM data over, but probably the easiest way is to either IR (infrared) or BT (bluetooth) it over. That way you don't run into any sync problems. Not sure what else you want to move over. Some third party apps won't work the same, but if you use the same hotsync ID on your new phone (presuming you're getting rid of the old one) then you should be able to just download most third party software you've already purchased and use it without any problem (note that some developers now use the device ID as well as the Hotsync ID to monitor product keys so that may be problematic). I would recommend searching the forum here, as there have been many people that have had similar discussions about how to move data over. If you still have questions feel free to post again and we'll get into more detail. Best wishes!
