| Junior Member ![]() | Transfer PIM data from 600 to 700p? I hate Microsoft. Can I just start by saying that? Oh, and I'm not very happy with Dell, either. My old Dell laptop died, after about 5 years of faithful service. So I got on-line and ordered a new Dell Inspiron. I'm very happy with the hardware, but at the time of order, I was forced to take it with Vista. Surprise, surprise, half my software no longer works. Start buying new versions. Soon my $900 laptop has cost me over $2500. Then I realize that my Treo 600 is no longer synching. Screw around trying all kinds of hacks and patches and work-arounds, and I realize I'm wasting huge amounts of time. Break down and buy a refurb'd 700p. While I'm waiting for it to arrive, I start to wonder how do I transfer all my contacts, speed dials, appointments, schedules, memos, etc., etc from the 600 to the 700p. Is it as simple as installing the new Desktop software and letting it find the existing stuff, or do I have to do a bunch of backing up and restoring?? Please, please don't tell me I have to manually re-enter any of it.... Thanks, all! Oh, did I mention that I really hate Microsoft? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | When I went from a 700 to a 755, I just sync'd my phone and it transferred all the information into my 755. |

Some of the issues are vista you have to have the new palm updates for vista ans also fir me at least minfdows mobile device center. I have put off a new laptop because of concern s aboout vista and wWMDC. I am hunting to find my windows xp disk but it seems to have disappeared. Maybe go to ebay and get an xp disk. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I believe you could beam the db files between the 2 devices.

| Junior Member ![]() | The beaming idea sounds like a good one, but I don't know what file to beam. I tried to simply move the calender app to the SD card, but of course it won't let me. It's my calender that I'm most interested in - can anyone tell me the name of the file to move? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I couldn't tell you which files to move, but I'm sure one of the Palm OS gurus could help you. Give it a little time.

| Junior Member ![]() | Maybe I should add that I've successfully transferred my To Do List, my Memo Pad, my Contacts, etc., all by highlighting the app in the Home screen, clicking Menu, and then selecting "Beam Category" I suspect the same action would work for Calender, I just can't find that option anywhere. And, if you've read my other thread, you know that I'm also screwed in trying to use HotSync to transfer it... Clearly, I have offended the Gods. I think I'll offer the neighbour's cat (the one that craps in my garden) as a burnt offering. |

| Junior Member ![]() | Good news, bad news: I finally got Desktop 6.2 to install, and performed a first sync with my 700p. Just before installing 6.2, I had re-installed Desktop 4.1.4 and synch'd with my 600, and verified that all my Calender data was present and accounted for. After the synch with the 700P, I started up Desktop, went to my Calender, and- it's empty. Nothing at all. My Contacts are all there, my Tasks, my Memos - but all my most important data is gone. I still have it all on my 600, so I'm not panicing - yet. But I really need to get this onto my 700p, and I don't understand why I'm having this problem. If I have to manually transfer the files by beaming from my old 600, I'm fine with doing that (I have FileZ 6 on the 600), but what file is it?? Help, please!! |

![]() ![]() | Give this a try. If I understand you right, the calendar is still on the 600 and both the Palm Desktop and the 700p have empty calendars. Ok, given this on the 600 in FileZ in the Internal drive, set the right column to Type. Then scroll down 'til you see Type/DATA [green text] CalendarDB-PDat. Check that file and hit the Send button. In the pop-up, you can try to Beam the file to 700p or if you've got a Mail app on the 600 and a data connection, you could email it to yourself and use the Palm Quick Install. So if you get the Calendar data on the 700p, then set HotSync to Handheld overwrites desktop for the Calendar and sync. This procedure logically should work but we talking Microsoft Vista so who knows? Keep posting on this issue.
