I never got a chance to try it.

I don't know what ended up happening, but after what seemed like endless cycles of hard resets and installing and uninstalling various versions of Desktop, suddenly something worked. A backup of my 600 that I'd done under Desktop 4.2 suddenly got downloaded to my 700p, and everything was there (well, except for the phone settings). And of course, now that it's working, I'm reluctant to go back and experiment to see if I can reproduce the problem :-)

So I don't know what worked, but thank you for it!!

By all means means leave well enough alone. AS they say sometimes its better to be lucky than good. Glad its now working for you!
