Random buttons not working for 700p

Hello. I have a treo 700p and I a few buttons went out on it randomly. I was texting and everything was working fine then I put the phone in my pocket and pulled it out to text again and discovered that the O, I, K, M, backspace, and green send button all quit working. I didnt spill anything on it and I didnt drop it so I dont know if its caused by damage or what. If anyone else had this problem please let me know if you fixed or if anyone else has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

welcome to treonauts Seinfeldstud. Try a soft reset and if that does not work you may need to do a hard reset. Get back with us if the soft reset does not work.

Welcome to Treonauts Seinfeldstud! It's odd that the keys that aren't working aren't all close together. Have you tried a soft reset? That's always the first idea. If that doesn't work, you may be in for something more drastic, like opening the case and cleaning between the plastic keyboard, and the keyboard circuit board.

Hello. Thanks for your quick replies. Im assuming that a soft reset is when you push that reset button next to the battery? If so I did that and no luck. How would I go about doing a hard reset?

This page on Palm's Knowledgebase explains all the different types of reset and how to perform them Be sure to back up your data before doing it though

thanks again for the reply. I did the hard reset and the buttons still dont work. Any other suggestions? I tried to unscrew it but I see that it needs a different kind of screwdriver. is it an allen wrench? if not should I contact verizon or palm to try and get it fixed?

They are torx screws so you would need a specific torx screwdriver to undo them. They are relatively easy to get hold of though

Yep, its a T5 Torx head, drivers for which are easily available at most hardware stores.
