SDIO wifi for 700p? - Treo Forum

I have Verizon service, and my contract is due for a new phone. I see that, with a rebate, I can get a Treo 700p, without a camera, for $100. This sounded good until I dug around and I seem to find that the Treo 700p cannot use wifi. It is not built into this model, and, apparently, the 700p does not work with sdio wifi.

Am I correct in assuming that I would have to have Verizon internet service to use the 700p on the internet, or is there a wifi sdio card that works with it?

Pretty much yes, an SD Wi-Fi card will not work on the 700P, the only way to get Wi-Fi is to use the Enfora Wi-Fi sled. This doesn't officially support the 700P but people have said it works although actually finding one could be tricky. Other than Wi-Fi it's down to using cellular data services.

The problem isn't the hardware, it is the operating system. Palm OS, as it is currently, cannot support "multi-tasking" and would either use the phone radio or the wifi radio, not both at the same time. This problem should be corrected with the Linux based Palm OS coming out sometime in the future, though chances of you being able to install this on your 700P with the SD card slot are slim. Palm and the phone carriers probably will require you to upgrade to a new phone to get the good.

Where can i find one of these Wi fi Sled's ? Will it work on the 755p?

I don't think it would work due to the size differences, not to mention the fact that it's no longer supported. It's available here.

It also makes the extended battery back on the teos look lime a small hummp.
