![]() | Hoping you experienced Treonauts may have seen this problem. I had an 650 in mid-Feb that I could no longer get a service signal from Verizon even in different cities. Since I had the 650 for 2.5 years figured it was time to get an upgrade to the 700p which was the closest to the 650 - less learning curve. (had a 600 before so I'm a die-hard Treo user) Had the 700p for about 2 weeks and flew from the mountains of az to Phoenix and the same thing happened again. Have talked to Verizon help desk and done soft and hard reboot. The problem with the 650 also occurred with I flew out of town. Is this a coinsedence? Verizon says I need to exchange for a new phone which I am 3.5 hours away from the closest store so it will take a week before I can get there. Could it be a problem from the sync with my old 650 data? But I did a hard reboot so wouldn't think so. I'm almost considering changing to Blackberry if this happens again. thanks for any help you all can give me. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It seems very strange. It still does this even after a hard reset? After a soft reset does it come back up ok? When you go get a new device, get the 755p. Same OS better form factor and less problems. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | To me that seems more of a network problem. I have friends in Casa Grande and they use Verizon. They travel down to Kitt Peak Observatory which is in the Baboquivari Mountains and have no issues like that with their 700P. Do you have your Treo to roam? How is it set up in that respect? Does your 700P have the latest ROM update. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | The mountains of AZ. are notorious for this problem with many people. As long as you're on the I10, there's usu. no problem. I have gone the back way from Tucson to Winslow with only a brief loss of connection just north of white mtns. This was a lucky day, and I'm on sprint. Never had a problem in southern, or eastern AZ. I do roam a lot however. North west by lk havasu is mostly ok with intermittent outages when in the low spots. Free roaming is a necessary feature for me in Southern Arizona. The funniest thing is that I only get one signsl bar at my house, and I live DOWNTOWN ! Sorry this was not a helpful post, but thought a little comparison wouldn't hurt. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | oops... forgot to mention, when you say "flew down" are you trying to get connection while in a private plane? If so, is there a possible radio conflict? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Quite the opposite. Very happy for the most part. (weak signal at home does not drop calls). 10,000ft mountains can be tricky in places. |

![]() | thanks for the replies and help Got a call back from Verizon helpdesk they say I can call their customer service and they will send me a new phone as I just bought it two weeks ago. They will mail it to me and I won't have to go to Phoenix to exchange it. At least they are being considerate about that. Comiken205 - ROM update - when I loaded the new palm software and sync'd the phone it looked for updates so I would think it would have updated everything but good idea. I'll go to the Palm site to check that. Eclair - I was in a private plane but turned the phone off when I flew down so I don't think that was it. I'm at 6,500 ft in Concho in the white mtns. I was getting 3 bars until I went to Phoenix. I can understand that one bar in your house - that used to happen when I lived in suburban Houston. LotusLord - soft reset - no it didn't work and then had to go to the hard reset and still no luck thanks for the 755p suggestion - I think I will go with that.. I really want to stay with the Treo - it does so many things that I love... Glad I found this forum. Will have to stay active and learn from you all. (especially after I get through tax season). Thanks everyone. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | By the way, Hello successworks!!! What a great name! Big huge welcome to treonauts. Yeah, another fellow AZ treonaut!! We should try to get together with comiken205 and all the other AZ treonauts for a little something or other. (after tax season, and finals)(we will probably wait 'til it's 115 degrees...) PS: Waaaa, Waaaaa, Why did you have to bring up TAX SEASON!? WAAA @stuartraynor now THIS is venting.Last edited by eclair; 03-31-2008 at 10:49 PM. Reason: bla bla bla spelling again |
