![]() | LED help needed. As has probably been posted before by others, I'm having trouble disabling my flashing LED on my Treo. The catch is, neither LEDOff nor Butler seem to be able to disable it, and I have no idea why. I happily used LEDOff for several months without any trouble, and only to see it stop working the other day. Deleted it and reinstalled it, fixing it for about 24 hours, after which I deleted it permanently after reinstalling it a third time did nothing. I put Butler on yesterday afternoon, and was surprised by how quickly it stopped containing the LED, which was this morning. Neither app otherwise appeared to give me trouble, and both were enabled. I'm now using electrical tape, but would *really* love to get this addressed. The only changes I've made to the phone lately were adding the following: (well before the trouble started) Destaller Phone Technician (shortly before the trouble started) Lightspeed (but I'm running the Phone App, Butler. and LEDOff at normal speeds) Safeguard (though currently disabled due to startup lag) Any thoughts on what I'm overlooking or missing? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | You probably already checked this but just to make sure for troubleshooting purposes: Enable is checked? Signal Alert Battery are unchecked unless you want either of those to alert you via LED. Check Phonetechnician and the other applications and see if there is an LED function associated with them. If there is, disable them. I use LEDoff and it works great with my 755P. |

![]() | Of what I listed as having been installed lately, are you familiar with any conflicts? I've got both programs enabled (for LEDoff, it's only set to light up when it's charging, as well as Butler). I peeled back the tape this morning, and I don't see the light flashing. I can't say I'm all that confident it will stay that way, as the problem was gradually leading up to this, with the occasional random flash for about a week, before it went all out the other day. Have you heard of something like this before? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Butler and LEDoff will likely conflict if you have Butler's LED set to go off at a certain time. They may conflict anyway, unless you completely disable all of Butler's LED functions. |

![]() | OK, now neither one is working again. I had LED moved over to the memory card and was just using Butler, though both were set for the same parameters (I only want it lit when charging). When I was viewing some of the other features of Butler (particularly the ones on the Volume Keys), I noticed the green light would flash once every time I toggled the check-box to enable/disable that particular feature. After toggling several times, the light once again blinks uncontrollably, with neither app providing any help.... |

![]() | (This gets weirder by the minute). So I'm continuing to monkey with Butler (LED's disabled) and nothing's working, even after a soft reset. So I disable it, only to find that now that turns the LED off, and the light blinks when Butler is *enabled*. I double checked the settings for the LED on Butler, and they are set to only light it when it's charging. Any thoughts? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I had a similar problem about a month ago, along with some phone preferences that wouldn't save. My LED kept sticking and I had to go to Butler's turn LED off function to get it to stop. There is evidently a software conflict somewhere. What I did to correct it, is I backed up everything, did a hard reset, and then clean installed each and every app. I didn't have to give up any apps and now everything works great. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Like Stu has stated, a clean install of all applications may resovle any conflicts. But when ever you have two apps trying to do the same thing, you are bound to get a conflict or two. |

![]() | I've been giving the hard reset a lot of thought, and I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it, but I've got a few questions. First and foremost, how do I do a hard reset? Second, do I then take the newly-wiped clean treo and plug it back in and have it load all the programs back, or do I load each one back manually after hotsyncing the now-empty phone over the data I had? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This link will explain the various types of resets and how to accomplish them: TreoFaq: Resetting your Treo As for the rest, I have found that a multi-step process I follow works best (at least for me). The first hard reset, I do a full restore and see if I still have the same conflicts. If so, I do another hard reset and then a selective restore of just the apps and preferences I want. Given that you are having problems with two specific apps, you might want to try them first and see if they then co-exist nicely afterwards (although I think two apps trying to do the same thing is still going to be problematic). Then I restore groups of apps, in groups of about five apps each and try the device out after each separate restore. This way if you find problems after a specific group, you already have it narrowed down to five apps that possibly could be causing the issues. You may want to consider getting a SD card and using a backup app like NVBackup that makes this process much quicker then hotsyncing each time. Anyway, best wishes! |
