New email notification icon in phone application??

Hi gang-

You know how the phone app shows icons for new emails and new picture text messages in the phone app to the left of where the time and date is displayed (and next to each icon it shows you how many of each you have)? Well, mine isn't showing the new email icon anymore.

The only change I've made was to stop using versamail & try out snapper mail and then chatter mail. After trying both, i went back to versamail, but somehow the icons have stopped showing.

Any ideas on this? For the way I check email, this feature is HUGE! Any and all leads are much appreciated.

have you deleted snapper and chatter? there's got to be some conflict with those 2 progs that's causing the email icon to not come on.

I agree. Try deleting the programs and let us know what happens.

Sorry, I should have been more clear:

I did delete the other email apps, and all associated files as best I could tell. In fact, I'm pretty sure now that deleting some files that I shouldn't have was the root of the problem.

This afternoon I backed up my treo, then did a hard reset. The I did a full restore from the backup I had just done. Viola, the alert icon was back.

So, clearly, either installing the other email apps caused the corruption, or I deleted a file I shouldn't have.

regardless-we now have fix, so thanks for everyone's input.

Ok, so I solved my previous issue about no longer getting the new email notification icon on the left side of the phone app (solution = do a full backup, do a hard reset, do a full restore), but now I have another question about the icon: It seems the icon only appears after I've opened Versamail--meaning, I could have 30 new emails, but until I actually launch Versamail, I won't get the icon in the phone app.

Does this seem right to you guys, or is anyone else having a different experience? Even better, has anyone figured out a workaround so that the new email icon shows up in the phone app without launching Versamail first?

When you first got your 700p, you should have had to install Versamail off your bonus software CD, correct? If so, even though it's a real pain, you might try deleting Versamail and re-installing it off the CD. Somewhere along the line you might have accidentally deleted a part of the program that allows for this icon to automatically appear, and re-installing the software should bring it back to normal.
