Problem with freezing - Treo Forum

I have had a 700P for nearly a year, and I find that it constantly freezes, often at difficult times, such as when I am leaving a message to someone on the phone and I can't hang up! Any thoughts??

When on the call, what else are you running in the background? Are you in and out of the service area when on this call? What 3rd party apps have you installed on your 700P.

One example that happened to me today. I am using my instant messenger. A call comes in. Instant messenger says it can't connect with the server, duh I am on a phone call. Well, too much for my poor old 700P. I had to do a soft reset to getting back up.

Most often it occurs when using my email accounts. I am unaware of anything else running in the background. How can I determine that? I have a number of apps downloaded, includiing voice dial, resco explorer, list pro and the like/ My only solution is to do a soft reset (remove battery).

What are you using to retrieve your e-mails and at what intervals is your e-mail app syncing with your computer?

I use versa mail, and sync with computer once or twice daily.

Have you tried a hard reset? If you perform a hard reset, make sure you back up your phone information. Then play with your phone and see if that helped. If it did, then we can deduce that a 3rd party app was causing your issue.

Unfortunately you are right. But more often than not, it is user induced coma. What I mean is that we go 3rd party happy and add as many cool apps as we can. That is when issues arise. If you take a 700P and use it in its virgin state, you won't have any issues.

My 700P is working great, no locks and no issues. I have a very limited amount of 3rd party apps and test each one for days before deciding to keep it and add another one.
