![]() | Sprint 700p, Ver. 1.10 - Palm Bluetooth Compatibility With the Sprint 1.10 software updater, my Bluetooth connection is now very reliable. I absolutely love the 700p’s Bluetooth pairing with my 2007 Camry Hybrid with Navigation. It automatically pairs without a hitch with the Camry’s built-in Bluetooth. As noted below, the updater added compatibility with Toyota’s Denso built-in car kit.Prior to the 1.10 updater, the Bluetooth connection to the Camry was a hit and miss affair. In well over a year since I purchased my car, though, I have never lost a Bluetooth connection to the Camry once it paired with the phone. However, still, I can only transfer some of my Treo’s contacts onto my Camry’s phone book via Bluetooth. So it seems that the updater may not have fully fixed the compatibility issues. I really like the Treo’s option to transfer a phone call---with a touch of either screen---to the car’s system or back to the phone. If you want some privacy while on the car’s phone system, it’s an easy and safe way to transfer the call while you are driving. Starting July 2008, (Senate Bill) SB 1613, California Hands-Free Cell Phone Law, makes it illegal to hold onto your phone while driving. SB 1613 Senate Bill - CHAPTERED Sprint Nextel initially opposed it , but I digress.By comparison, it is very difficult to transfer calls from my Camry to my new MetroPCS Motorola RAZR V3a when it is connected via Bluetooth . It pairs just fine. But the Transfer Call feature grays out on the Camry’s screen making it unavailable, and the RAZR requires going through a few phone menus before the transfer can be accomplished. This is a difficult and unsafe way to transfer a call while driving. As for transferring contacts to my Camry, it doesn’t work at all . That’s why I love my Treo even more. After numerous internet searches, I found a “Palm Bluetooth Compatibility” support web page at Palm - Support - Palm™ Bluetooth Compatibility . Toyota is now listed there, among other factory-installed car kits, as being Bluetooth compatible when you install the “Treo 700p Update.” It is the 1.10 software updater. The only other web site I could find listing Bluetooth phones specifically compatible with the Camry is at Toyota Bluetooth Phone . Unfortunately, it does not include any Palm manufactured phones. As a side note, the Treo 700p is listed as being compatible with Lexus as in the above-referenced Palm web page and at Lexus LS - Accessories - Bluetooth Phone Palm Treo 700p (Verizon Wireless) Cell Phone I did find a Treonauts forum for Bluetooth at http://forum.treonauts.com/treo-accessories/bluetooth/. I particularly enjoyed the discussion at Treo 700p compatible hands-free car kit .
