Treo resets upon text message arrival

Hello everybody i have searched but couldnt find anything. Its not the specific phone because within the last week i have had 3 700p's thanks to sprint; they keep giving me knew one's instead of trying to see what is making it do this.


When someone sends me a text message it shows up for a millisecond and then resets my phone. It is then never seen again.

This is awful because i basically work through text messages and emails and sprint keeps saying its the phone.

I have erased my entire text message data base and it still resets my phone.


any ideas? or anyone know where to look for the answer.....

btw when i do ##377# in the phone it says.....

A crash occured while running "Messaging":
DataMgr.c, Line:7496,
Invalid uniqueID passed.


Any help is greatly appreciated.

do you have any 3rd party apps installed? did you upgrade from a different treo to your 700?

Like brandon asks, "Did you upgrade from a different phone....." The reason he asks is that some programs may not be compatible from one phone to another. It does sound like a phone issue. I make and receive about 2000+ texts per month without an issue.

My suggestion is for you to do a hard reset. You will have a fresh phone and then see if the Text issues continues. If it does, then I would take your phone and have it replaced or re-paired.

I was having the same problem but not as often as you. Maybe 1 out of every 3 text messages. My treo was also resetting with incoming phone calls. This started happening after I did the updater. I had my treo replaced and I no longer have this problem. Makes me think that it is the phone. Another thing I've noticed since the updater, when I do the ##377# after a reset, it doesn't always show the last reset. Sometimes it shows one from the day before, like it's not registering all the resets.

I upgraded from a treo 650. and i havent recently installed or updated any of my apps on the phone; however i have gotten the actual phone replaced a couple of times. It makes me wonder if there are hidden files on my phone that are doing this. I performed a hard reset and only restored my email database, text message database, phone book, and calander stuff.

i left all my 3rd party apps off and it still crashes upong receiving a text message.


Thanks for any suggestions i will do just about anything at this point. (i have a brand new treo 700p sitting on my table right now and im gonna try this one.)

but you haven't just hotsynced straight out of the box? that's what i was getting at, because that will cause you troubles for sure.

Seems like the same problem. I have replaced my 700p 4 times at least. There are an unacceptable number of bugs in this phone. If they can't work this out, I'm leaving Palm forever when I switch phones next year.
