VersaMail Problems with Deleting Email Messages on Yahoo Server - Treo Forum

I'm using VersaMail on a Palm Treo 700p with my Yahoo Mail Plus account. When initially setup in August 2006 the e-mail and message deletion functionality was working perfectly. I could delete messages on the Treo, and then "Empty Trash" and it would also delete the messages from the Yahoo server. About two weeks ago the delete/empty trash functionality stopped working. When I deleted a message on the Treo and then "Empty Trash" it would all appear to work until the next "Get" to retrieve messages from Yahoo. At that time the Treo would re-download all the "deleted" messages from Yahoo and mark them as unread. The only way to truly delete messages now is online via the web on my Yahoo account.

Any idea what is going on here? Anyone else having such problems?

I've had this problem on both my 650 and my Lifedrive. The only way I've found to fix it is to delete the account and start over.

Thank you for your reply. As suggested, I deleted the VersaMail account and then re-created it - and now the delete is working as it should. This is great. Thanks again.

What if you have deleted the account and started over and it still reloads the deleted emails?

I dont delete the emails from the server on my Treo because I do that from my home computer.

Technically the emails that you deleted are still in your inbox on the server until you empty your trash, if you have that option checked. Otherwise it just stays in the inbox on the server. The way Versamail is designed is pulls all the messages in your inbox, so if you delete an email on your Treo and don't update the server, the next time you download your email you will get the message you "deleted". If your trying to save space on your Treo, but don't want to actually get rid of those messages you can go online and move those emails into a new folder for safe keeping.

I check my mail from 3 different locations using Outlook but only 1 actually downloads it from the server. I have never had to worry about any of them redownloading messages after I delete them without deleting from the server.

Is there another email app for my 700p that works like Outlook so that when I delete emails from the app and then do a get mail it doesnt redownload?

There are plenty of applications out there for managing email, just take your pick. Have you had Versamail doing what you want it to before, or is this something that has never worked the way you want it to?
