700p vs. car + replaced screen + replaced radio card - Treo Forum

As the title states, my Treo 700p was run over by a car after I jumped out of my car to chase someone and the Treo fell to the ground. This was last week. I picked up the phone and noticed that the screen was broken. No problem. Got and replaced screen. While replacing the screen noticed that the radio card insid was also damaged. Ordered a replacement for that. Installed the replacement radio card.

I know that there must be a step that I'm skipping and hope someone on here can assist. The phone attempts to turn on wireless but is unable to. i think it might be an issue with the ESN# and such. Called Verizon and they gave me blank looks over the phone. The place I got the radio card says to install an update (so that the the components can talk to each other?). Great! Which one?

Phone info shows blanks where phone number, Verizon username, and ESN are displayed. Anyone know how to modify that?
The Treo's other functions work well considering the abuse(camera's a bit fuzzy) and I don't think anything else is damaged. Help!

just curious... how much was it to replace your screen?

The screen and digitizer were around $115 from pdaparts.com

Buy the radio card?

Did you buy a CDMA radio card or a GSM radio Card?

You needed a CDMA radio card.

This thread is several months old, but found it curious that no one had pin-pointed possible reasons for your problem. As I understand, the radio card (which is also called radio board, chip and/or modem module) is what communicates with your service provider every time you dial and send a phone call. It is where your phone's unique ESN (an encryption code) is located. Assuming you told your service provider about the change of the radio board in your unit, they should have asked for its ESN number which is beneath the battery. They then would have internally done a set-up (I believe they call it a PRI), as well as search for some other code (I'm not too clear with all the steps involved) so that your phone could communicate with the provider. There is no way that your phone would have worked just by putting in the new radio board. Hope this helped!
