BBC Radio 4/Streaming/RAM format on 700p

Hi,

Has anyone figured out how to stream programs from BBC Radio 4 to a 700p. I think they use Real Audio Player, which doesn't as a native app. support streaming yet. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jon

BBC in Treo

I don't know how to do BBC 4, but you can listen to the BBC World Service through KCRWworldnews.com.
I would love to find a way to listen to BBC World Service all the time on my Treo (KCRW combines feeds from BBC, VOA and NPR).

With all the streams that come out, it really depends on the format they are in. Make sure that you have an audio player that supports both streaming, and the format being used.

Maybe I should re-write my question:

Does anyone know of a media player that can handle streaming from a Real Audio source (.ram)? Currently Real Audio don't have an in-house player that supports streaming for a 700p platform.

Has anyone managed to listen to BBC Radio 4 on their palm, and if so, how?

Thanks,

Jon

The BBC website says the following

Quote:
Can you give me the direct URL of your audio streams?
Sorry, but we can only offer support for streaming via the Radio Player and cannot give out direct URLs.
and

Quote:
Can I listen to BBC Radio programmes using my mobile phone?
There is no service to stream or download BBC radio programmes onto mobile devices at the moment. However we are always researching new ways of making the BBC's content available.
So it looks like a no

wow. i thought a big broadcasting company like bbc would have something rudimentary from which to stream their audio. is my image of the bbc flawed, or do i expect too much?

The BBC are in some ways very forward thinking but in others very backwards

They do streaming, but only through Real Media or their own streamer. As for cutting off mobiles, I think they're grappling with some intellectual property issues. All their content is paid for by the British Tax payer. Shame - it would be a great resource.
