HELP! 911! 700p reboots whenever I try to connect to Internet - Treo Forum

I'm "the tech guy" at a small business and all of my users use Palm products.

We've got Tungstens, 650s, all sorts of products and none of them are anywhere near the headache of the 700p (except the 700w which I had people switch to 700p from because of all the issues).

One user on a 700p (Verizon) -- everytime I try to connect to the Internet for ANYTHING (Web, Wireless sync) the 700p reboots itself.

When I try to connect to the web:
1) It gives "service connection progress" dialog box which says "connecting..." and "established"...

2) It shows the text parts of the home page (espn.com).

3) Instantly, it reboots.

Wireless Sync, as soon as it says "Established" (and sometimes "Connected to BroadbandAccess") and plays a tone, it reboots. When it reboots "the phone is off" or "wireless mode is off". When I turn the "phone on"... it reboots.

The phone can't use ANY online ANYTHING! I've tried soft and system resets...

I'm exasperated over here!

I take it this is an ex Sprint phone? Did it work properly on their network?

nah...native Verizon.

plus over the past couple minutes its gotten worse... can't even use the phone at this point

A weird workaround I found here -- disabling "update date/time from network" for some reason stopped the rebooting.

I'm thoroughly confused.

Spoke too soon... rebooting again (although now the phone is at least usable)

Yeah -- loads of it. Mostly eBooks but there is AvantGo! on here.

so after dedicating an ENTIRE day to this, and using #*##377, I found out that "applications\nexter" was causing this.

Apparently this is the text messaging program. But it's not listed anywhere and what do I do to fix it?

Try finding that app in your backup folder, remove it, hard reset, and resync. It should be a native version firmware install, so it should reappear properly after a hard reset. Re-syncing will return all the info, with the exception of the bad file you removed, and all should be rainbows and sunshine.

As an extra precaution, you should make a copy of your backup folder and store it in a different portion of your computer. That way you have a safe backup of all of your current information.

Nah, using FileZ I see that it's part of the ROM. Nothing I can do to get it out of there.

Just did a hard reset, and everything was fine.....until the first SMS. And then, it was back to the rebooting.
