Software for creating (MIDI) ringtones - Treo Forum

If I understand correctly, ringtones need to be midi files. I am basing this on the fact that I have an MP3 file that I would like as my ringtone when a known knumber calls me. When I use this mp3 file sometimes it will not ring, sometimes it will.

I would like to convert one MP3 file to a MIDI file. What software can you suggest? I have found numberous packages for $19.95, or so, but since I just want one file converting I'm looking for a shareware package. What can you suggest?

no, ringtones do not have to be midi files. they can be mp3 files as well. IntelliScore Polyphonic give this a shot. i haven't tried it, but mp3 to midi conversion is, evidently, harder than it looks.
