![]() | Sync with Microsoft Outlook I have just upgraded to Treo 680 and now am unable to sync calendar & contacts with Outlook. Previously worked with Treo 650. I have reinstalled Palm software but problem continues. I have also gone into HotSync Custom and modified the actions and created them as a default but to no avail. Any assistance would be appreciated. |

![]() ![]() | I'll assume you installed the Palm Desktop software that came with the 680 and you're using the same HotSync ID you used with your 650. If so then, in Outlook goto View/Folder List. Look for a folder/directory name PocketMirror or Handheld Sync or even Palm, select it. You should see in Outlook window a notepad file named with your HotSync ID. Double click to open it. Note the date at the bottom, it should be the last time you had a successful HotSync with Outlook. Note: if you have more than one file in the folder, remove the oldest. Sometime this file doesn't recognize the new device even tho' the HotSync is the same. Ok, the note may say don't remove this file which is fine, but hide it temporary in the Archive folder or some other folder. Then try to HotSync and see if you can get a error free sync, no installs or transfering photos, just simple sync of data. If successful, go check that folder for new note file for your HotSync ID. If not then the conduits aren't setup to sync correctly. Check to see if you're syncing with Palm Desktop, if so reinstall the Palm Software but do a Custom install, instead of Typical, and make sure Outlook is selected as the PIM. Post your results.

![]() | Followed your instructions but not solved yet. I get a new Notes at the time of sync but Calendar and Contacts to Outlook do not sync. I checked Custom and the conduits note Do Nothing. I then change to sync with default but the HotSync Manager then exits on its own and when I restart the HotSync Manager the Contacts and Calendar in Custom have reverted back to Do Nothing. Any idea as to how I can get Calendar and Contacts (outlook) in custom to stay defaulted to Sync? |

![]() ![]() | Try this, set the conduits in the Custom to Desktop overwrites Handheld and HotSync. DO NOT set as Default. Ignore that checkbox for now. If you can get your Contacts and Calendar onto the 680, then reset the conduits to Syncronize. Again don't touch the checkbox for Default. Make a new calendar entry on the 680, and HotSync. See if that works. The Default checkbox function is suspect - beware!

![]() | Thanks, but still does not connect with Calendar and Contacts. All other syncs are happening without a problem except for Outlook. I have an internet connection with my work PC that connects automatically and updates accordingly but not so with my home PC. Had no problem syncing my previous Treo 650 with Work PC (Intellisync) or home PC on Outlook. For some reason the conduits aren't working. |

![]() ![]() | Wait sec, are you syncing with your Work PC without a problem? And does that PC sync into Outlook? This could definitely make a difference.

![]() ![]() | I'm not familiar with this a sync with an exchange server, but since that process apparently works, I'm guessing that the desktop sync on your PC is locked out somehow. You might want to check the software that running the remote sync to see if there are some prefs protect the Calendar & Contacts from modification. Permissions maybe required for the HotSync conduits to do their thing. And check the HotSync app on your 650, if you still have it, for any settings in the HotSync/Option/Primary PC setup or any other configs in the app.
