680 shutting down - Treo Forum

I have a relatively new 680 and my provider is AT&T. I am getting a weird issue wth it. It will suddenly shut down and won't repower. I am getting the red light in the top of the phone. It won't respond to a soft or hard reset. The only way to get it back operational is to let the battery run completely out and then it will turn back on after a full charge.

I thought maybe it was because I was letting the battery get too low before a charge, but it happened today when I got a call and I had just taken it off the charger. It had a 100% charge right before the call.

I don't have any third party software installed.

Any ideas?

Having to wait the two days for the battery to exhaust itself is not a good option. I need this phone to work 24/7.

Maybe you have a duff battery, is it possible to get it swapped by Cingular?

That is what I was wondering. I am planning to go by and visit there tomorrow to check and see. I am hoping that will fix it. I wish that the battery from my old one fit it.

Will a bum battery keep it from resetting? It will show up the Palm start up screen, but it won't go farther than that.

Thats true if you have not already contact At&t, and they would most likey send you a new treo.
