EarBud /w Mic... I can hear, but no one can hear me. Anyone have this issue?

I use the single ear bud /w the mic on the wire instead of a BlueTooth. My problem is I can hear but no one can hear me. It just started doing this one day. Also I have VoiceDial but now I cannot activate it via the button in the mic. Before it worker great. I have checked the ear bud and mic on another phone and it works fine. I uninstalled/reinstalled VioceDial with no change.

I know this is a long shot but does anyone know of a fix?

Thanks,
Nylo

I'll assume this wired ear bud is the original Treo unit that came with the 680, if otherwise please try the OEM unit instead. The earphone socket/jack is a notorious culprit in most of these situations. The problem, especially on the slightly curve base of the 680, is the male stem sometimes doesn't make great contact internally. The remedy - insert the headset fully, rotate the jack 180-360 degrees in the socket and see if that doesn't make a difference.

At times you may not be able to hear or be heard using the phone with the headset removed. The result of the socket "thinking" the headset is still plugged in. The remedy - insert and remove quickly the headset/audio jack to reset the phone to normal non-hand-free status.

Thanks for the advice but I have tried all of that. I even took my 680 completely apart, inspected, cleaned, and reassembled. Still no luck.

Maybe a hard reset is required.

If Bluetooth is enabled, while you are on a wired set, you can talk but they will not hear.

Well that's not necessarily true. Bluetooth can be ON but you wouldn't want to have a BT headset paired and ON at the same time you're using a wired headset.

Make sure that your plug has 3 'bands' (stereo + mic) as the socket can be finicky about 2 'band' plugs.
