Combining users

One last issue and I hope this is as stupid a question (and as simple to correct) as the last.

I now have two users on this Treo because when I first got it, it wouldn't accept the user that existed. So, now I have two users and apparently two sets of data.

Is there a way to combine data and then delete a user that shouldn't be there to start with?

Not really. You can obviously transfer some programs across though beware that some reg codes are based on the TreoID (of which you have two now).

You can retrieve installed apps form the backup directory... mine is:

C:\Program Files\palmOne\TreoA\backup

Some I'm guessing you'll have TreoA and TreoB. You'll need to watch out for the PRC and PDB files. If it's confusing, install from the original installers.

Your contacts will be fine if they're in Outlook, Those only in PalmDesktop will need to be cross copied (watch out for dupes).

Alas, not that simple.

I only use my Palm Desktop a a backup. I don't use Outlook or Notes. I live on my phone and try to use the PD as a backup mechanism only. I don't care about any apps (since I have only one or two and don't use them), but I care about my contacts and calendar. The calendar has been backed up successfully but the contacts are not.

I cannot sync the contacts now at all. I now have three and four entries in the Treo but none on the desktop...so nothing is archived or saved in any way. The syncing hangs at the contacts - it just keeps on going but never goes past it (even if I let it go for hours).

Right now, I would welcome manually deleting things if I could get ONE reliable backup of anything at all.

I would like to try to do the 2.11 upgrade but until I can have a backup of my contacts, that's not going to happen.

I gave up on doing this before but I am going to have a fatal crash one of these days and I need a backup.

Can anyone assist?? I am at wits end here.
