| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Sound comes and goes I have searched high and low here...if this winds up being a duplicate question, I apologize in advance. I have a Treo 680 (AT&T) and have generally liked it (although internet browsing sucks). I am having a relatively new problem...the sound goes off (where the phone won't ring and the calendar won't sound). Vibrations still work. I think there is some oddball keystroke combination going on to toggle it on and off. The sound went off a few months ago and I bought a Blackberry (which I do not like). The Treo 680 just started providing sounds again on its own so I stuck the SIM card back into the Treo as I much prefer it to the Blackberry. I do not know what made the sound go off or come back on again. It did it again a few days ago (the sound went off) and I cannot get it to come back. I use this as my primary alarm clock as I travel extensively and it gives me a great snooze in just touching it. It also contains a zillion contacts which I have been loath to type manually into the BB. I have soft and hard booted (but I didn't delete all data because syncing is still a hit or miss thing). Is anyone aware of the keystrokes that might turn the sound off? It went off when I was fumbling in the dark to check my email. I am sure it was some obscure set of keystrokes that disabled the sound. Help! And any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not to sound like it's a simple problem, but are you sure you're not switching the switch on the top of the device to turn the ringer off?

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I started with a Samsung I-300 so I have been doing smart phones for a long time. So making a totally dumba$$ mistake like this is, well, dumb. Now if I can get my contacts to sync and figure out how to combine the two users (this one required I set up a new user as it wouldn't take the one that was already on the desktop), life would be good. Oh, and a better web browser than Blazer (the one installed, the other one, won't even load let alone work). Picky, picky, picky...I know. ![]() |

![]() ![]() | By combining the two users I guessing you mean that there are multiple Palm Desktop User IDs, and they've different contact sets. If that's the case then you can Export the contacts to a .cvs format and switch User ID and import these contact records. I haven't does this lately but I remember doing this like three Treos ago. To avoid duplicates, you can delete contact records in the exported file. Regarding a better web browser, I'd look at Opera Mini. It requires a Websphere Java VM installation but it's far better than Blazer.
