Heyas...and SIM card activation question

Hey all,

So I am in Greece and bought a local sim card. From reading your posts, it seems that you need a unlock code from AT&T wireless to use other networks simcards. I obtained that number from my provider. The problem is I am unsure how to enter it.

The sim card works...a friend lent me her phone and after entering the sim card pin I could use it fine . When I place this card in my treo, however, I get a screen asking me for the pin number. I enter the pin of the sim card and it comes up as incorrect. I know I need to "unlock" the phone first, but when do I enter the unlock code? I tried entering it in the SIM card pin window but I get another "incorrect pin" message. Plus the characters are obscured so I am not sure if my keypad is even on the right setting. HELP.

welcome to treonautsTSimone. We are glad you are here. I have never done that myself so I am unsure as tio how it is entered either. You might try contacting the provider who gave you the unlock code and ask them how to enterr it. Or hopefully some people on this forum who have done it will come to your aid and take care of this issue.

Try unlocking it with the old SIM in the phone, or with no SIM at all, then let us know. You just enter the code in the phone app like you are dialing a number.

thanks for the response. I tried entering the activation code they gave me into the phone app and then calling. It just treats it like a number. Tried this with both sim cards and no card. Same deal as before...with the new sim card I get a window prompting me for the pin...this window does not acknowledge either the activation code or the pin of the card.

Tom, By the sounds of it and unlock code you got from ATT is wrong or maybe expired. Try to get ATT to give you the unlock code again for your IMEI # and dial the unlock code while you have them online, also don't have any SIM in the Treo while you're dialing the unlock.
