| A Few Questions.... ![]() | can't transfer data from Tungsten C to Treo 680 I've used a Tungsten C for years. Finally decided to switch to Treo 680 to have all my data and third party programs in Treo so I only have to carry one bump in my pockets. Now I've upgraded my Palm desktop and synced my Tungsten to desktop but Memo and some of contacts and some of calendar from Tungsten didn't go to desktop. Then I synked to Treo and had the same problem. Interestingly the third party program synked just fine. I've also entered new info by hand into contacts and that won't synk to Treo. Any thoughts? |

![]() | I also had a similar problem with my Tungsten C; and after some disastrous attempts at synching, I finally had to hand-enter all my contacts, etc., from the Tungsten to the Treo. Also, be careful of 3rd party Apps... many 3rd party apps that were functional on your Tungsten may wreak havoc with your Treo. It was a pain, and I was disappointed in the lack of compatability, even though they're both Palm platforms. I hope that there's someone else out there with a more constructive solution, but that was my experience. |

![]() ![]() | even with palm units you still have to be careful when migrating data from one device to another because of different versions of programs may be incompatible with the new device. Generally causes problems that can be otherwise avoided. |

![]() ![]() | As indicated by the other comments here, changing over from your Tungsten C PDA to the Treo 680 can be an adventure. If the contacts etc. from the Tungsten did'nt sync with Palm Desktop then you won't see them sync to the 680. Therefore you might want making changes in the Palm Desktop app and then set the Hotsync conduits initially to Desktop Overwrites Handheld, then confirm the data sync worked then switch the conduits back to Sync. Also I agree that 3rd party apps should not be installed until the standard PDA and Phone apps are working error free. Then add 3rd party apps one at time and test fully before any further app additions. Any resets or freezes are not a good sign.

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Transfer to Tungsten C data OK Sorry for taking so long to reply. Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I clearly was not clear. My Tungsten C would sync perfectly well with my Tungsten C desktop. Transferring from my Tungsten C desktop to my Treo desktop was spotty. Any ideas. |

![]() ![]() | Yes you should install the treo palm desktop software and not try to use the tungsten C desktop software. Uninstall the tunsten palm desktop install the treo palm desktop st up the connection/conduits and resynch and you should hopefully bre good to go. |

![]() | I have a tungsten e and upgraded to a treo 680. I played with both of them for months until I was finally able to figure out the export and import function on the palm desktop. I went to my tungsten user and exported the contacts and calendar databases. Then I opened the treo username in the palm desktop. I imported the files. I tried it first with the contacts and then the calendar. I did get a few dublicates in both but was able to clean them up. This is just another option. I also tried beaming the events or contacts using the ir port from my tungsten e to the treo and unfortantely the ir port on the tungsten is kput. It can recieve but not send for some reason. I am still tweaking my treo to get it to do everything I want. I am so glad I am only carrying one now instead of both of them. I hope this helps someone. |

![]() ![]() | Indeed Thanks for the post. It certainly is easier to move around with a device like the treo and not have a pda and a cell phone. |
