| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I was just doing my typical hotsync on my Treo 680 and saw the message saying there was a problem. When I looked at the log I saw that there was trouble with every topic in my "Documents to Go". -The destination card for this document wasn't inserted during the synchronization or it has been formatted. Insert the card or move the document to a different card and synchronize. For more information see the Help file-- I have a 2GB SD card and leave it in all of the time. After the hotsync I unplugged the treo from my PC and went to programs. Under "All" I went to Docs to Go and looked there. Most everything was gone. I clicked on my card name, the name of my card came up but I could see nothing at all underneath. I looked at "Info". Under "Phone" I saw a lost of the programs saved there but when I changed it to the card I just saw 968.3 MB used 995.2 free of 1963.6 MB That was correct but I can't figure out how to see the files on that card! Please, please help me! |

![]() ![]() | Try installing FileZ. It should give you look at all files store in RAM as well as your SD card.

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Thanks Cartogary, for your quick reply. I do have FileZ on my Treo but when I try to look at the files they are all jumbled up and I can't make any sense of it. I do have another clue. On my PC I opened my Palm Desktop and went to media. I have a lot of photos, music and books on my card. On the lower right portion of the Desktop screen I saw two tabs, the top tab says Card D, the name I assigned my card, nothing there. Beneath that tab was one titled Expansion... When I clicked on that one all of my photos opened up. On my Treo when I try to look at the card all I see is Card D. I can't seem to find anything that says Expansion Card. One more thing. I haven't used Outlook Express for years but this week I did go in and update my settings so mail could be received there, on the PC. Could this have something to do with it? If so, can I undo it? What a mess! |

![]() ![]() | If you have been using Outlook prior this change to Outlook Express, this could be an issue. I don't think the conduits in HotSync can use Express and this maybe the problem. Check you conduits in HotSync/Custom for issues. Also you've got Palm Desktop 4.2 installed right? You see two cards? in the lower right and the Device (680 RAM) on the lower left. If you've a card reader or slot on your PC, plug your SD in and see what the card Name is and if you can see the directory and files. If so, then HotSync without the card installed and see if you get any error messages. Doc 2 go won't be able to sync files on the card, so you may or may not get an error in the log regarding that. Let's stop there and see what happens.

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I do have Palm Desktop 4.2 installed. I do see two cards on the lower right (on media screen) and Device on the lower left (doesn't say 680 RAM). I plugged the SD card into the MMC/SD slot on my PC. The files look like the jumbled one I saw on the FileZ program. The name isn't showing up for that drive like it normally does with the others. When I open the drive (G and look at the details it has:MMC/SD (G ![]() Removable Disk File system: FAT I can't see the name Card D or Expansion card. Since I couldn't see those name I haven't done the HotSync. Thanks for hanging in there with me. |

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | Something else... I went to the Docs to Go section of the Palm Desktop. On the lower portion of that screen where you normally see files for the expansion card I can see the files. I can also so that the card name was changed, probably during that last HotSync. To the right on that screen there is a box beside the word card. In the box I can see "Card-Dawn's Xtra Memory" (actual name of the card", then "CARD-DAWN'S" (the name I am now seeing on the Treo), then "Next Available Card". It looks like the name was changed to all caps and I'm just not seeing the entire card name. Also, since the Docs 2 Go files and the media files are on my PC, maybe the rest of the files (music, books, etc) are there too. One more thing, in my preceding post the (G should be Drive letter G.Thanks again |

![]() ![]() | This is getting weird. Sounds like Doc To Go has had a stroke. I've got v10 Doc2Go and I see what you've described but my SD card shows it's actual/accurate name, but none of the .jpg, mp3 files on the card. This probably because I didn't it setup to "read" those file types only the MS Office types. Go to Card Info app and see if the Directory show files and stats. If not the card probably needs to be reformated. If the files are present - try renaming the card using Card Info app, maybe with a shorter simpler name. If you can't open the directories, Audio, Palm, DCIM then I'm guessing the HotSync and Docs To Go scrambled the card. Also check the directory in the Palm folder on your PC under your HotSync ID, ie. Programs/Palm/HotSync ID/DoctoGo and see if you have the missing or any files in those sub-directories. If they're there, make backup copies outside the Palm folder. Then you might want to try to HotSync again and see if the card recovers it's memory. These are best guesses as to where the files are hiding. What it really sounds like is Docs To Go got interrupted during the HotSync which really messed it up. There are some restore procedures in Docs to Go Help that might let you recover the missing files.

| A Few Questions.... ![]() | I can't perform a HotSync. The procedure begins and is then interrupted saying that Windows has encountered a problem and has to shut it down. I reformatted the SD card. Backed up the Docs to Go files and then tried to Re-install to the Handheld with the Docs to Go. The HotSync Log just shows a report that says: The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop was lost. Some of your data was NOT backed up. |

![]() ![]() | dang. sounds like you might need to hard reset and reinstall your apps. if you need to revive dtg, use the dataviz tech tool. you can delete the prefs db along with a few other things. indispensable if you're a heavy dtg user. i know you said you can't h/s, but if you do get everything back up and running, you may want to keep the tech tool onboard just in case. |
