Where can I find an UNLOCKED Copper 680?

Hey everybody,

Back when the 680 first came out, I snapped up an unlocked copper version from Palm's website, and I loved the device!

About a month ago, we were given phones for work, and so I decided to sell my Treo 680 on eBay.

I am now realizing that was the biggest mistake of my smartphone life!

I don't know why I decided to sell my precious Treo, I guess I figured I didn't need two phones, especially when I got the other for free from work.

Long story short, I am regretting my decision to sell the 680, am I'm dying to get another one.

Anybody know where I can pick up an UNLOCKED Copper 680? They don't sell them anymore on Palm's website, and I don't want to buy a Cingular branded version. I'd be most grateful for any help!

Thanks!

Right now you'd be getting an at&t branded one, not Cingular, but that's not the point. eBay will unfortunately be your best, if not only, bet.

I agree that Ebay is your best bet. I got mine (copper) there two weeks ago and am crazy about it. I try to ignore the Cingular branding and just use the phone and enjoy it.

Thanks raydeeo, couple questions. Is the Cingular software/branding annoying? I really REALLY want a copper 680, but I hate the built-in Cingular proprietary software, and the big fat Cingular logo on the front.

Can you at least delete the Cingular programs?

Thanks

You can't delete the Cingular apps because they are part of the ROM, but you can hide them using a program called obfuscate.

Ignoring Cingular branding

Other than Logo on the faceplate, as LotusLord states, all the ROM software can be hidden. Get an Unlocked Treo will be next impossible on Ebay unless it's a refurb or used Treo. So you are realistically looking at ATT/Cingular branded locked that you'll need to unlock thru Cingular or third party sites ($30)

Here's one on ebay I just found used. PALM TREO 680 Unbranded and Unlocked Copper NICE!! - (eBay item 280164810304 end time Oct-26-07 1204 PDT)

Thought you might want to look. I've had good luck in buying electronics on ebay, The only problem I ever had was a defective 4gb flash drive.

These are the guys I just bought my Treo from! I'll let you know about the ROM. Mine's supposed to be unlocked and unbranded. One thing I REALLY like about this guy is that he seems to be VERY thorough on his desriptions. If you scroll down in the list, you'll see in the top of it... his description of whether it's unbranded, unlocked or both... etc.. then when you scroll down further, you'll see a list of included parts with every individual phone. I went through like 5 or 6 of his listings because each one included something different. So, being it's ebay, read EVERYTHING carefully. But that being said, I haven't recieved the phone yet but I'm fairly confident that it'll be just as promised. He's got good feedback and his listings are VERY specific. That gives me a HUGE sense of confidence.

I'll post back here specifically if my phone is as promised... unbranded and unlocked.
