Unlocking Cingular 680 via Cingular - Treo Forum

I recently found a Treo 680 at a hotel. It's missing a battery, sim card, and charger so I still have to buy those from amazon.com. It's locked to Cingular and I want to be able to use it with my Fido (canada) sim card. Is there a free way I could unlock this 680? I read around on these forums, and apparently you can call Cingular if you've been with them for 90 days and they'll unlock the phone for you. I live in Canada, and I decided i'm going to call my friend in Chicago who uses Cingular to get them to unlock my Treo. Has anybody done this before? Like, do you guys know what questions they will ask and what the procedure is?

Alternatively, are there free ways that I could unlock my Treo without going through Cingular? I don't want to pay $35 dollars on top of all the other stuff I have to buy for the Treo just to make it work. I really mind if there are lines and lines of code with this solution, I just want a free way to unlock it.

Why not contact Cingular and do your best to get the Treo back to its rightful owner? That would be the right thing to do......

Oh, I am glad... someone found my missing Palm Treo 680 that I left in a hotel.

That's odd that it's missing the SIM... Still you should try to find the owner.

There are ways to unlock it available online, search around.

Might be a drug kingpin's PDA, beware, or a bait of some kind to steal your identity. Worst, might self destruct after 30 hrs of use......

are you saying that because a treo or phone really exploded after 30 hours of use?

I know anything with a li ion battery can explode
