680 problems - Treo Forum

Hi all,
I have upgraded from the 650 to 680. and find the 680 almost useless.
even with the patch for the camera the batt life is joke. and I have 3 new batteries for it.
also this 680 just turns itself on at will and stays lit up for hours. or just off and on at will.
and constantly unstable.
even when I select a program by the nav key the 680 may take 4 or 5 seconds to keep up. same with dialing a number, i can finish the entire number before anything shows on the display.
long and short of it is that this 680 is pathetic.
is there any way to make the thing actually work? anyone have any idea how to fix. I have reset everything many times. and it is still extremely unstable. palms answer is to just hard reset everything and never add any programs to it.. ever.

It's likely that it's a third party program you've installed that's causing the problems, what have you put on it so far?

Any warranty on the 680? Maybe you got a bad unit...

Did you just copy existing data from a previous pda/treo from a backup instead of starting "fresh"? I have heard of problems as you described happening when this is done.

Yours may be a bad machine, as I don't have any of the problems you mention, except that the battery issue is a common one. Mine wouldn't even last from morning til night. You should read the sticky thread "Palm Treo 680battery instructions" on this forum. It has worked wonders for me. Now I can go two days without a recharge, alhough recharging every night is no bother, as far as I am concerned. Good luck.
